The Death of Queen Elizabeth II
On the 8th September 2022, Elizabeth II, Queen of the United Kingdom and the other Commonwealth realms, as well as the oldest living and longest-reigning British monarch, died at the age of 96 at Balmoral Castle in Scotland. Her body lay in state in Edinburgh before being transported to London to lay in state in Westminster Hall. The State Funeral was held at Westminster Abbey for the first time since 1760.
