Group D - Bayern Munich (0) @ (6) Manchester City - City continued their unbeaten start to the campaign with a big win over the Germans. City were the better team all around the park, and converted the dominance into a 3-0 lead at the half before coasting home with 3 more goals in the 2nd half. Group H - AC Milan (1) @ (1) Barcelona - Barcelona secured their spot in the knockout stages with a comeback draw in the Mini Estadi. Milan opened the scoring in the 1st half with a great long-range finish from Bryan Cristante. But despite solid defending from Milan, Barcelona fought back to earn a draw with a goal from captain Elohor Godswill 11 minutes from time. Barcelona also featured Munir El Haddadi but were missing top scorer Toni Sanabria. Next day re-broadcast missing action in the 1st half between 32:46 and 40:05 and in the 2nd half between 45:00 and 53:22. Quarter Final - Arsenal (2) @ (4) Barcelona - In a shootout at the Mini-Estadi, Barcelona used 2 late goals to ease through to the Semi-Finals. Both teams were evenly matched with the score 1-1 at the half, but Barcelona capitalised late on with 2 goals to break a 2-2 tie and win the game. The Barcelona goals came from Munir El Haddadi, Adama Traore (2) and Wilfred Kaptoum. Semi Final - Benfica (4) v (0) Real Madrid - In an upset, Benfica shocked Real Madrid with a 1st half goal-blitz to book their place in the Final. Benfica ended the game as a contest by taking a 3-0 lead inside the opening 17 minutes and with Real Madrid also down to 10 men, the comeback proved too much for the Spaniards. Semi Final - Schalke (0) v (1) Barcelona - Barcelona finally wore down Schalke with a strong 2nd half display to book their place in the Final. Final - Benfica (0) v (3) Barcelona - Barcelona claimed the inaugural Youth Champions League title with a comfortable win in Nyon. A tight 1st half finished 1-0 to Barcelona but only because Benfica missed a tieing penalty. The Spaniards made the Portuguese pay for their miss by scoring 2 goals in the 2nd half, with the 3rd a spectacular lob from inside his own half from Munir El Haddadi. 2014/15
Last 16 - Porto (1) @ (1) Real Madrid - Porto knocked out one of the favourites for the competition with a penalty shootout win in Madrid. After a scoreless 1st half, Real Madrid took the lead on 60 minutes with a goal from Borja Mayoral and looked to be heading for a win when they conceded a penalty with 9 minutes to go. Leonardo scored and the game went to a penalty shootout where Porto goalkeeper Gudino saved 2 of Real's kicks to claim the win (10, 1 Disc, Eurosport - Boyce/Osman, PAL)
Last 16 - Manchester City (1) @ (2) Roma - Roma moved on to the Semi-Finals with a big win over City in Rome. City had twice beaten Roma in the group stages of the competition but this time Roma took their chances when they came with goals from Tomáš Vestenický after 62 minutes and Lorenzo Pellegrini after 86 minutes. City did get a goal back in injury time from Thierry Ambrose via a penalty but ran out of time to rescue the tie. City also had 2 players sent off (10, 1 Disc, Eurosport - Boyce/Robson, PAL)
Semi-Final - Shakhtar Donetsk (3) v (1) Anderlecht - Shakhtar overwhelmed Anderlecht late in the game to book their place in the Final. After a scoreless 1st half, Anderlecht took the lead with a goal from Samy Bourard, but Shakhtar fought back with 3 goals in 11 minutes to turn the tie around and win the game. The Shakhtar goals came from substitutes Viktor Kovalenko (2) and Denys Arendaruk (10, 1 Disc, Eurosport - Boyce/Robson, PAL)
Semi-Final - Chelsea (4) v (0) Roma - Chelsea booked their place in the Final with a dominating win over Roma. Chelsea were the better team throughout and, after a scoreless 1st half, scored 4 unanswered goals in the 2nd half to take the win. The Chelsea goals came from Charlie Colkett, Dominic Solanke (2) and Tammy Abraham. Final - Chelsea (3) v (2) Shakhtar Donetsk - Chelsea won their 1st Youth Champions League title with a hard-fought win in Nyon, Switzerland. After the 1st half ended 1-1, Chelsea took control with 2 goals in 8 minutes at the start of the 2nd half and held off a late Shakhtar comeback to take the win. Semi Final - Chelsea (3) v (0) Anderlecht - Chelsea booked their place in their 2nd straight Final with a comfortable win over the Belgians. The Blues took a 1-0 lead in at the half then finished the game as a contest with a goal early in the 2nd half. A final goal with 11 minutes left secured an emphatic win. Semi Final - Real Madrid (1) v (3) Paris Saint-Germain - PSG used a flurry of late goals in Nyon to beat Real Madrid and book a place in their 1st Final. PSG took an early lead with an own goal but the Spaniards fought back to go in level at the half. Although both teams worked hard for the winner in the 2nd half, the game looked to be headed for extra-time when PSG stunned Real Madrid with 2 goals in the final 6 minutes of the game to book a place in the Final. The PSG goals came from an own goal, Aka Wilfride Kanga and Jean-Kévin Augustin. The Real Madrid goal came from a penalty by Borja Mayoral. Final - Chelsea (2) v (1) Paris Saint-Germain - Chelsea retained the title with a tough win against the French in Nyon. The game had plenty of action with the teams combining for 26 shots on goal. Chelsea had the better of the 1st half and led 1-0 at the break. PSG fought back in the 2nd half and equalised in the 58th minute only for Chelsea to re-take the lead 2 minutes later. The Blues then withstood a late charge from PSG to see out the game for the win. The Chelsea goals came from Fikayo Tomori and Kasey Palmer. 2016/17
Semi Final - Barcelona (1) v (2) Salzburg - Salzburg continued their hot streak in the competition with a come-from-behind win in Nyon. Barcelona held a 1-0 lead at the half but Salzburg finished the game stronger and scored 2 goals in the final 27 minutes, including the game-winner with 6 minutes to go. The Salzburg defense had a big game, holding the Catalans to only 1 shot on target. The Salzburg goals came from Hannes Wolf and Daka Patson. The Barcelona goal came from Jordi Mboula (10, 1 Disc, BT Sport - Andrews, PAL)
Semi Final - Real Madrid (2) v (4) Benfica - Benfica booked a place in their 2nd Final with a comprehensive win over Real Madrid in Nyon. Benfica raced out to a 3-0 lead after 19 minutes but the Spaniards fought back to 3-2 before the Portuguese club sealed the win with an injury time goal. Both teams combined for 29 shots on goal with 18 on target. The Benfica goals came from João Félix (2) and João Filipe (2). The Real Madrid goals came from Dani Gomez and Seoane (10, 1 Disc, BT Sport - Roebuck, PAL)
Final - Benfica (1) v (2) Salzburg - Salzburg came from behind to win their 1st title, beating Benfica in a tight game in Nyon. Both teams were evenly matched but Benfica held the lead at half-time. Salzburg changed things up in the 2nd half with 2 key substitutions, and the move paid off as both the substitutes combined for 2 goals in 4 minutes to win the title for the Austrians. Final - Benfica (2) v (3) Real Madrid - Real Madrid finally won their first UEFA Youth League title with a shootout win over Benfica in Nyon, Switzerland. Real Madrid started fast and held a 2-0 lead at the break. Benfica went all-out for the win in the 2nd half, and managed to pull the game back to 3-2, but when they had a late penalty saved, Real Madrid saw out the game for the win. The Real Madrid goals came from Pablo Delgado, Miguel Gutierrez and an own goal from Henrique Jocu. Real Madrid were also coached by club legend Raúl. 2021/22
Final - RB Salzburg (0) v (6) Benfica - After 3 previous losses in the Final, Benfica finally won the title, demolishing RB Salzburg at Colovray Stadium in Nyon, Switzerland. Benfica took the lead inside 2 minutes and finished off the Austrians with 4 goals in the 2nd half to take the win. The hero for Benfica was Henrique Araújo (3) with the other goals coming from Martim Neto, Cher N'Dour and Luis Semedo. RB Salzburg featured Roko Šimic (9, 1 Disc, BT Sport - Farrar, PAL)
2023/24
Final - Olympiacos (3) v (0) AC Milan - Olympiacos won their 1st ever Youth Cup with a 2nd half goal blitz against AC Milan. The Greeks scored 3 goals in 7 minutes to end the Italians resistance and win the trophy, with the 3rd goal a spectacular bicycle-kick finish.
