Semi-Final - Liverpool (0) v (6) Ajax - Ajax coasted into the final with a dominating win against Liverpool. A tight 1st half ended 2-0 to Ajax with goals from Viktor Fischer and Lesley De Sa, with Liverpool missing a penalty. Ajax piled on the pressure in the 2nd half and finished the game off with further goals from Fischer (2) and Davy Klaassen (2). Liverpool were led by Raheem Sterling and Conor Coady. Semi-Final - Inter Milan (2) v (0) Marseille - Inter booked their place in the final with a comprehensive win over Marseille. Inter started fast with a free-kick goal after 2 minutes from Lorenzo Crisetig and made all the running in the 1st half, creating more chances than the French. Inter doubled their lead in the 40th minute with a tap-in goal from Samuele Longo then coasted home in the 2nd half to the win. Inter also featured Daniel Bessa. Final - Inter Milan (1) v (1) Ajax - Inter Milan claimed the inaugural NextGen series trophy with a Penalty shootout victory at the Leyton Orient Matchroom Stadium. Inter used a tough Defensive performance to stifle the free-scoring Dutch, although both teams had plenty of chances to score. Inter took the lead just before the half with a goal from Samuele Longo, but Ajax responded straight after the break with a great free-kick goal from Stefane Denswil. Even after Inter went down to 10 men with 20 minutes to go, both teams pushed for a winner, and though both teams hit the woodwork they couldn't find the breakthrough. In the Penalty shootout, Inter keeper Rafaelle Di Gennaro saved 2 Ajax spot kicks and Inter claimed the trophy. Re-Broadcast missing 10 minutes of action in each half. No scoring missed. 2012/13
Group 1 - Barcelona (5) @ (0) Wolfsburg - Barcelona went top of Group 1 with a great display of passing and finishing at the VW Arena in Germany. An entertaining end-to-end game was settled by clinical finishing from the Catalans and it was Barcelona that led 1-0 at the half with a goal from Pol Calvet. The 2nd half followed the same pattern and Barcelona scored 4 more goals from captain Fernando Quesada and Alain Ebwelle and from substitutes Joel Huertas and Cristian Herrera. Both the goals from the substitutes were great long range efforts. Wolfsburg were led by Phillip Hauck and Jungbin Park (10, 2 Discs, Europsort - Caple/Robson, PAL)
Semi-Final - Arsenal (3) v (4) Chelsea - In a game of momentum swings, Chelsea finally booked their place in the Final with an Extra-time win in Como, Italy. Arsenal led 1-0 at the half with a goal from Chuba Akpom, but Chelsea roared back with 3 unanswered goals from Islam Feruz, Lewis Baker and Jeremie Boga and seemed to have booked their place in the Final. But late goals from Akpom again and Serge Gnabry sent the game into Extra-Time. Semi-Final - Sporting Lisbon (1) v (3) Aston Villa - Villa upset the favourites in Extra-time to book a place in the Final. Both teams exchanged goals in the 2nd half, Villa through Graham Burke and Sporting through Luka Stojanovic, to force Extra-Time where Villa proved the stronger, winning the game with goals from Jack Grealish and Captain Samir Carruthers (10, 2 Discs, Eurosport - Boyce/Robson, PAL)
Final - Chelsea (0) v (2) Aston Villa - Aston Villa claimed their 1st U19 European title with a surprising win against a strong Chelsea team. Chelsea dominated the 1st half but were let down by poor finishing. Villa made them pay in the 2nd half as their attack provided them with 2 penalties that Graham Burke scored to win the game. Villa also featured Jack Grealish and Callum Robinson. Chelsea featured Lewis Baker, Alex Kiwomya, Nathan Ake and Islam Feruz (10, 2 Discs, Eurosport - Boyce/Robson, PAL)
