FA Youth Cup, Quarter Final - Arsenal (3) @ (1) Tottenham Hotspur - The 2 big London rivals met in the Youth Cup for the first time since 1980 and Arsenal cameback from a 1-0 deficit to take the honours. Spurs opened the scoring within 5 minutes with a goal from Jonathan Obika but Arsenal levelled the scores 5 minutes into the 2nd half with a headed goal from Kyle Bartley. Both teams played attacking football but the game seemed destined for Extra-Time before Arsenal captain Jay Emmanuel-Thomas put Arsenal in front in the last minute. Arsenal substitute Rhys Murphy scored in injury time to pad the score and seal the win. Spurs also featured Andros Townsend, John Bostock and Dean Parrett. Protecting a 4-1 lead from the 1st leg, Arsenal were more defensive than usual but still managed an opening goal from Sanchez Watt. Liverpool replied with a goal from Lauri Dalla Valle but a late own-goal from Liverpool defender Daniel Sanchez Ayala sealed the Reds fate and gave the cup to the Gunners. FA Youth Cup Final, 1st Leg - Chelsea (1) @ (1) Aston Villa - On a rainy night in Birmingham, both teams looked to keep it tight and an early goal from Daniel Devine was cancelled out by a Jeffrey Bruma free-kick in the 2nd half to leave the tie in the balance for the 2nd Leg. Chelsea were led by Conor Clifford and also featured Marko Mitrovic. FA Youth Cup Final, 2nd Leg - Sheffield United (1) @ (4) Manchester United - In a big week for the Red Devils, Manchester United claimed their 10th Youth Cup title with a dominating home win. The Reds led 2-0 at the half and clinched the win with 2 more goals in the 2nd half. The goals came from Ravel Morrison (2) and Will Keane (2) with the lone reply coming from Joe Ironside. FA Youth Cup 5th Round - West Ham (3) @ (3) Chelsea - In a wild game at Wheatsheaf Park in Staines, Chelsea sensationally went through to the Quarter Finals with a dramatic penalty shootout win. Both teams were evenly matched and were tied 1-1 at the half. Chelsea took the lead in the 2nd half only for West Ham to fight back and take a 3-2 lead in the 92nd minute. But with the last kick of the game, Chelsea equalised to force extra-time. Neither team could find the breakthrough so the game went to penalties where Chelsea triumphed and booked a place in the next round. Norwich had the better of the game although neither side could make the breakthrough on the score-sheet until City's Reece Hall-Johnson scored the winner 2 minutes from time. FA Youth Cup Quarter Final - Liverpool (4) @ (4) Reading - In a big upset at the Madejski Stadium, Reading won through to the Semi-Finals of the Youth Cup for the 1st time with a penalty shootout win. In a dramatic game of runs, Liverpool over-turned a 2-0 deficit to force extra-time by scoring 2 goals in the final 7 minutes of the game. The Reds then rode the momentum to score 2 more goals in extra-time only for Reading to force a penalty shootout by scoring 2 goals of their own in the final 3 minutes of the game. Reading held their nerve in the shootout and took the win without missing a kick. The Reading goals came from Harry Cardwell (2), De'Jaune Taylor-Crossdale and George McLennan. With their 5th straight title, Chelsea matched the achievements of Manchester United's Busby Babes from the 1950's who also won 5 straight. Chelsea took control of the game early on, ending the tie as a contest with an 11th minute goal. 3 more goals in the 2nd half proved the icing on the cake as Chelsea ran out winners 7-1 on aggregate. The game was played at the England training complex due to the Coronavirus Pandemic. Blackburn set out to defend and the tactic paid off for 80 minutes, but as the Rovers players tired, City took advantage and 4 goals in the final 10 minutes sealed the win. FA Youth Cup Final - Aston Villa (2) v (1) Liverpool - At their home ground, Villa Park, Aston Villa won their 4th FA Youth Cup – and their first since 2002 – with a dominant display against a strong Liverpool team. Villa started on fire and their speed and directness saw them 2-0 up after only 11 minutes. The score could have been worse going into half-time as Villa also hit the post twice. Liverpool did pull a goal back with 15 minutes to play in the game, but Villa comfortably held on for the win. The Aston Villa goals came from Ben Chrisene and Brad Young (penalty) and Villa also featured Carney Chukwuemeka. The Liverpool goal came from an own-goal off of a Melkamu Frauendorf shot.
