FA Cup Round 3 Replay - Aldershot (1) @ (6) West Ham United - On a chilly night at Upton Park, West Ham made short work of Aldershot to advance to the next round. West Ham led 4-1 at the half with goals from Trevor Morley, Stuart Slater (a great run and shot), George Parris and Ian Bishop (off the bench for an injured Stewart Robson). The Shots goal came from Adrian Randall. West Ham took their foot off the gas in the 2nd half, but still added 2 late goals from Trevor Morley and Jimmy Quinn, his 1st for the club. West Ham also featured Chris Hughton, Tony Gale and Steve Potts. Aldershot also featured goalkeeper Peter Hucker + David Puckett and Ian Stewart (8, 1 Disc, The Sports Channel - Tyler/Gray, PAL)

FA Cup Round 5 Replay - Liverpool (4) @ (4) Everton - In a sensational game at Goodison Park, Everton came from behind 4 times to force a 2nd replay. After an ordinary 1st half that Liverpool led 1-0 at the break, the game exploded in the 2nd half with 5 more goals. Liverpool led 3-2 entering the last minute of the game when Everton scored to force extra-time. Both teams scored again but neither team could find the winner so the game went to a 2nd replay. The Liverpool goals came from Peter Beardsley (2), Ian Rush and John Barnes. The Everton goals came from Graeme Sharp (2) and Tony Cottee (2). 2 days after the game, Liverpool manager Kenny Dalglish resigned. FA Cup Semi-Final - Tottenham Hotspur (3) v (1) Arsenal - Paul Gascoigne graced the Wembley turf with a passionate display including a thunderous free-kick that flew into the top corner, beating David Seaman for pace. FA Cup Final - Tottenham Hotspur (2) v (1) Nottingham Forest - Spurs won the FA Cup for the 8th time in their history with a big 2nd half at Wembley Stadium. The match started badly for Spurs as they lost star midfielder Paul Gascoigne to injury after a poor tackle, and from the resulting free-kick Stuart Pearce smashed in the opening goal. But Spurs re-grouped at the half and dominated the 2nd half, winning the game with 2 unanswered goals from Paul Stewart and an own goal from Des Walker. Spurs also missed a 1st half penalty. ZDS Cup Final - Crystal Palace (4) v (1) Everton - Less than a year after losing the FA Cup Final, Palace returned to Wembley and this time left as winners with an Extra-Time victory over Everton. In a very physical game (Andy Gray and Martin Keown left the game with head injuries), both teams went to Extra-Time where a fitter Palace team clinched the win over a fading Everton team with 3 goals. The Palace goals came from man-of-the-match Geoff Thomas, Ian Wright (2) and John Salako. The Everton goal came from Robert Warzycha. Palace also featured keeper Nigel Martyn, Alan Pardew, Mark Bright and manager Steve Coppell. FA Cup 3rd Round - Arsenal (1) @ (2) Wrexham - In a huge upset at the Racecourse Ground in Wrexham, the home team from the 4th Division beat 1st Division Arsenal who fielded 7 England Internationals. Arsenal held a 1-0 lead at the half with an Alan Smith goal but Wrexham tied the game with a thundering free-kick from Mickey Thomas in the 82nd minute. The Dragons then surged forward and scored the winner in the 84th minute through Steve Watkins. Arsenal had no reply and Wrexham held on for the win. FA Cup Final - Sunderland (0) v (2) Liverpool - 1st Division Liverpool won the FA Cup for the 5th time in their history, beating a determined 2nd Division Sunderland side at Wembley Stadium. The underdog Black Cats had the better of the 1st half but couldn't find the scoring breakthrough. Liverpool took control in the 2nd half though, scoring 2 unanswered goals to win the cup. The goals came from Michael Thomas and Ian Rush, a record 5th FA Cup Final goal. Liverpool also featured Jan Molby, Dean Saunders, Ray Houghton and Steve McManaman. ZDS Cup Final - Nottingham Forest (3) v (2) Southampton - Forest claimed their 2nd ZDS cup in 4 years with an extra-time win over the Saints at Wembley. Both teams were evenly matched and after the game finished at 2-2, Forest took the cup with a winner 5 minutes from the end of extra-time. The Forest goals came from Scott Gemmill (2) and Kingsley Black. The Southampton goals came from Matt Le Tissier and Kevin Moore. Forest were led by coach Brian Clough and this proved to be his last trophy before he retired. Forest also featured Stuart Pearce, Des Walker, Roy Keane, Nigel Clough and Teddy Sheringham. Charity Shield - Leeds United (4) v (3) Liverpool - League Champions Leeds started the defence of their title in the season curtain-raiser against the cup holders Liverpool. A pulsating match was marked by a hat-trick from Eric Cantona. Cantona left Leeds for Manchester United 3 months later. Liverpool featured Dean Saunders, Ian Rush and Paul Stewart. FA Cup 6th Round - Sheffield Wednesday (3) @ (3) Derby County - In a shootout at the Baseball Ground, Sheffield Wednesday earned a replay with a late goal. The Owls led 2-1 at the half, but Derby used the crowd to take the momentum with 2 goals in the 2nd half, only for Wednesday to set up the replay with an equaliser with 6 minutes left. The Derby goals came from Shane Nicholson, Marco Gabbiadini and Paul Kitson. The Wednesday goals came from John Sheridan and Paul Warhurst (2). FA Cup Semi-Final - Sheffield Wednesday (2) v (1) Sheffield United - In the biggest Sheffield derby game of them all, Wednesday beat their big rivals at Wembley to advance to the FA Cup Final, but needed extra-time to do so. An early Wednesday goal from Chris Waddle (a sensational free-kick) was off-set by an Alan Cork goal for United but a Mark Bright goal in the extra period settled the game and sent the Owls to their 6th FA Cup Final. Wednesday also featured Goalkeeper Chris Woods, Carlton Palmer, Viv Anderson, John Harkes, Paul Warhurst and David Hirst on the bench. FA Cup Final - Sheffield Wednesday (1) v (1) Arsenal - In a replay of the League Cup Final, the 2 evenly matched sides played out an extra-time draw to secure a replay. A 1st half goal from Ian Wright gave Arsenal a 1-0 lead at the half but David Hirst equalised for the Owls in the 2nd half. Neither team could make the breakthrough in regulation time or extra-time so the game went to a replay. FA Cup Final Replay - Sheffield Wednesday (1) v (2) Arsenal - Arsenal finally won the longest FA Cup Final ever but needed a last minute goal in extra-time to do so. A 1st half goal from Ian Wright was again cancelled out by a 2nd half Wednesday goal, this time from Chris Waddle. Both teams searched for a winner, but the game ended up in extra-time and seemed destined for Penalties when Arsenal defender Andy Linighan headed in a last minute corner to sensationally win the cup. Arsenal also featured Goalkeeper David Seaman, Tony Adams, Lee Dixon, Paul Merson, John Jensen and Alan Smith. FA Cup Final - Chelsea (0) v (4) Manchester United - Manchester United completed their first ever Double (Premiership and FA Cup) with a big win over Chelsea. The game was scoreless at the half but United scored 3 goals in 9 minutes to settle the result. Eric Cantona scored 2 penalties and Mark Hughes added the 3rd. A late goal from Brian McClair rounded out the scoring. Chelsea featured Dennis Wise, Gavin Peacock and Craig Burley. FA Cup Round 3 Replay - Millwall (2) @ (0) Arsenal - In a physical London derby, Millwall compounded Arsenal's miserable week by sensationally knocking them out of the FA Cup. Both teams had been knocked out of the League Cup the week before. Millwall were the more hungry team and took an 11th minute lead with a goal from Mark Beard. Arsenal tried hard to find the equaliser but were denied by great goal-keeping from Millwall's Casey Keller. With time running down, and Arsenal pressing for the tieing goal, Millwall broke up-field and settled the tie with a goal from Mark Kennedy in the 90th minute. Arsenal featured Ian Wright, Martin Keown, Ray Parlour and Kevin Campbell. FA Cup Semi-Final Replay - Manchester United (2) v (0) Crystal Palace - Manchester United proved too much for Crystal Palace at Villa Park and booked their place in the Final with a strong 1st half display. United took control early, scoring 2 goals in the 1st half from central Defenders Steve Bruce and Gary Pallister. Palace played better in the 2nd half but couldn't find the goals they needed and United ran out easy winners. The only blemish on United's performance was the sending off in the 2nd half of Roy Keane for stamping on Gareth Southgate after Southgate had lunged in on a tackle. Liverpool (2) @ (4) Chelsea - In an amazing turnaround, Chelsea fought back from a 2-0 deficit at the half to beat Liverpool and advance to the next round of the FA Cup. 1s half goals from Robbie Fowler and Stan Collymore capped a dominating display from the Reds but Chelsea manager Ruud Gullit made an inspired change at the half, bringing on Mark Hughes as a striker and he galvanised the team with an early goal followed by an awesome goal from Gianfranco Zola. The comeback was completed by Gianluca Vialli who scored 2 more goals to upset the Reds. Liverpool also featured Jamie Redknapp, John Barnes and Steve McManaman. Chelsea (3) v (0) Wimbledon - Chelsea booked their place in the final at Wembley with a comfortable win against Wimbledon. Goals from Mark Hughes (2) and from Gianfranco Zola did the damage. Zola's goal was a stunner as he stopped on a dime, changed direction and smashed the ball in for the 2nd goal. Chelsea also featured Gianluca Vialli and were coached by Ruud Gullit. FA Cup Semi-Final - Middlesbrough (3) v (3) Chesterfield - 2nd division Chesterfield took Premier League Middlesbrough to a replay with a spirited display at Old Trafford. The Spireites found themselves deservedly 2-0 up after 60 minutes but 'Boro fought back to force extra-time. Once in the extra period, 'Boro took the lead and the game seemed over but Chesterfield sensationally equalised in the final minute of the game to force a replay. The Chesterfield goals came from Andy Morris, Sean Dyche and Jamie Hewitt. The Middlesbrough goals came from Fabrizio Ravanelli, Craig Hignett and Gianluca Festa and 'Boro also featured Juninho and Emerson. FA Cup Final - Chelsea (2) v (0) Middlesbrough - FA Cup Final - Chelsea finally won their 2nd FA Cup, 27 years after their first, with a comfortable win over Middlesbrough, who were playing in the first FA Cup final. Chelsea took the lead after 42 seconds with a 25 yard shot from midfielder Roberto Di Matteo, but had to wait until the 83rd minute for the game-sealing 2nd goal when midfielder Eddie Newton scored. Chelsea also featured captain Dennis Wise, Frank LeBoeuf, Gianfranco Zola and Gianluca Vialli. West Ham United (2) @ (1) Manchester City - West Ham midfielder Steve Lomas returned to Maine Road where he used to be captain. Georghe Kinkladze was the star as he scored the goal of the game with a mazy run past several defenders and shooting into the corner. FA Cup Semi-Final Replay - Arsenal (1) v (2) Manchester United - United's dream of a unique Treble (Premiership, FA Cup and European Cup) was kept alive as keeper Peter Schmeichel and midfielder Ryan Giggs produced moments of brilliance to win the game. With the scores at 1-1, thanks to goals from David Beckham and Dennis Bergkamp, Arsenal won a penalty in injury time that would have won the game. But Schmeichel saved Bergkamp's kick and forced extra-time. 5 minutes into the extra period, Giggs picked off an errant pass on the half-way line and beat 4 players before beating keeper David Seaman with an unstoppable shot.
