Friendly - New Zealand (11) v (23) Barbarians
- In arguably the greatest Rugby match ever, the all-conquering All Blacks ran into the free-flowing attack of the Barbarians in a great game of passing and running rugby. The Barbars featured JPR Williams, David Duckham, Willie John McBride and Gareth Edwards, who scored the most famous try of all time in the 3rd minute of the game (9, 2 Discs, BBC - Morgan/Young, PAL)

17/11/79 - New Zealand (9) @ (21) Northern Division - The North inflicted only the 3rd ever provincial defeat on the visiting All Blacks with a dominating display in Otley. The North used a great defensive game-plan and an over-powering forward pack to take a 7-0 lead in at the half then scored 3 tries in the 2nd half to take the win. The North tries came from Tony Bond (2), Alan Old and Steve Smith. The New Zealand try came fom Stu Wilson. The North were led by captain Bill Beaumont and also featured Fran Cotton, Roger Uttley, Tony Neary, Mike Slemen and John Carleton. 1981

Friendly 3rd Test -
South Africa (22) @ (25) New Zealand - The final test of the Springboks controversial tour of New Zealand saw the best game of the Tour, as the All Blacks scored on an injury time penalty to win the game and the series. The All Blacks led 16-3 at the break but the 2nd half saw the Boks fightback to tie the game in the final minutes before Alan Hewson kicked the winner. The All Blacks also featured Murray Mexted, Frank Shelford, Gary Whetton and Andy Dalton. The Springboks featured Naas Botha, Danie Gerber, Divan Serfontein and Wynand Claassen. The game was played with the back-drop of civil unrest as the New Zealanders campaigned against Apartheid. This protest involved a light aircraft buzzing the stadium and dropping leaflets and Flour Bombs onto the pitch. 1 Bomb hit a TV camera and 1 hit All Black Gary Knight on the head (9, Some moments of dead time edited out, 1 Disc, TVNZ - Quinn/Thorne, PAL)

Friendly - England (31) @ (13) Eastern Province - Englands' tour of South Africa suddenly ignited in a violent exchange in Port Elizabeth. 3 major fights erupted including an exchange that saw Tim Rodber sent off (8, 1 Disc, ITV - Smith/Taylor, PAL)

England (32) @ (15) South Africa - England upset a powerful South Africa team with Rob Andrew the hero, as he scored 27 points. Nelson Mandela made his 1st appearance at a game as president (8, intermittent tracking problems in the first 10 minutes, 1 Disc, ITV - Smith/Taylor, PAL)

1996
Friendly - New Zealand (31) @ (0) Western Transvaal - New Zealand recorded their biggest win of the tour with a shut-out win at Olën Park, Potchefstroom. For the 2 hours before the game, the field was subjected to heavy rain and hail and when the players ran out to play, 80% of the field was covered in standing water. The All Blacks adapted the better and ran out to a 12-0 lead at the half and coasted home in the 2nd half as the pitch started to clear. The try scorers for New Zealand were Matt Cooper, Alama Ieremia, Eric Rush, Carlos Spencer and Ofisa Tonu'u. Friendly - New Zealand (81) @ (3) Llanelli - The All Blacks opened their tour of the British Isles on a rainy night in Wales and proceeded to run riot in a big win. New Zealand led 31-3 at the half and scored a further 50 points in the 2nd half as, despite the conditions, they played oustanding running rugby with great handling and ingenuity. The tries came from Zinzan Brooke, Christian Cullen (4), Norm Hewitt (2), Alama Ieremia, Ian Jones, Josh Kronfeld, Justin Marshall and Jeff Wilson (2). The lone Scarlets points came from the boot of Craig Warlow and Llanelli also featured Rupert Moon (8, Welsh commentary, 1 Disc, S4C, PAL)

1999
Friendly - South Africa (19) @ (29) Wales - Wales opened the new Millenium stadium with a match against the World Champion Springboks. Wales had never beaten South Africa but laid that to rest with a great kicking game from Neil Jenkins and tries from Mark Taylor and Gareth Thomas. The Boks were led by Gary Teichmann and also featured Percy Montgomery (9, 2 Discs, BBC Wales - Davies/Williams, PAL)

2000
Hennie LeRoux Benefit match - 1995 Springboks (42) v (14) 1999 Golden Lions - Francois Pienaar leads out the Boks for the last time. The 95 Boks comprise of most of the World Cup team + older Bok players (8, 1 Disc, Supersport, PAL)

Friendly - South Africa (17) @ (25) England - England ended their Autumn Internationals unbeaten with their 2nd straight win over the Boks. In a brutal game, both teams lost players temporarily to the blood bin, and South Africa also committed the most penalties (18-6) leading to the difference in the game as England's Jonny Wilkinson converted 6 of them into points. Both teams only scored 1 try with England's coming from Will Greenwood and South Africa's coming from Braam van Straaten. England also featured Martin Johnson, Ben Cohen, Mike Tindall, Dan Luger, Matt Dawson and Neil Back. New Zealand (31) @ (32) England - In a game of wild momentum swings, it was England that held firm at the end to seal the win. After both teams played great attacking rugby, it was England that held a 17 point lead in the 2nd half thanks to tries from Jonny Wilkinson and Ben Cohen. The All Blacks started their fightback with tries from Jonah Lomu and Danny Lee and reduced the deficit to 3 points. It took a great defensive effort from Ben Cohen and the rest of the team to hold out the All Blacks and the result was only safe when Ben Kay stole a line-out 5 metres from the England line at the death (2 versions : 8, Full Game, 1 Disc, SKY - Harrison/Barnes, PAL / 9, 38 mins hi-lites, SKY, PAL)

Friendly - Australia (31) @ (32) England - England extended their unbeaten run to 17 matches with a come-from-behind win at Twickenham. After a tight start, the Aussies surged into a 31-19 lead in the 2nd half before England re-grouped and pulled back in front with 12 minutes left and held on to win. The England tries came from Ben Cohen (2) and Jonny Wilkinson added 22 points with 6 penalties and 2 conversions. The Aussie tries came from Wendell Sailor and Elton Flatley, with Matthew Burke adding 16 points on 4 penalties and 2 conversions. England also featured Martin Johnson, Neil Back, Will Greenwood and Matt Dawson. Friendly - South Africa (3) @ (53) England - England ended the friendly tournament with an unbeaten record as they handed the Boks their worst ever defeat against the English. A very physical game turned on the 23rd minute sending off of South African Jannes Labuschagne for a late tackle on Jonny Wilkinson and England exploited the advantage to score 7 tries. The tries came from Ben Cohen, Will Greenwood (2), Neil Back, Richard Hill, Lawrence Dallaglio and a penalty try. Jonny Wilkinson added 8 points from the kicking game. South Africa's only points came from a penalty from Andre Pretorius. England also featured Jason Robinson, Mike Tindall, Matt Dawson, Martin Johnson and Phil Vickery. Friendly - Rest of the World (27) @ (30) South Africa - A penalty-strewn game was won in the last seconds by the boot of Percy Montgomery. An under-strength Springbok side kicked 10 penalties. Friendly -
Australia (18) @ (21) Wales - In the final game of the Investec Challenge, Wales became the first Northern Hemisphere team to beat a Southern Hemisphere team as they survived a late Aussie rally to win. Wales took the lead through a sensational Shane Williams try and played great defense to keep the Aussies at bay. Stephen Jones (11 points) and Lee Byrne (1 try) helped open up a lead that they defended until the final minute when Digby Ioane pulled the Green and Gold to within 3. But Wales snuffed out a final chance and held on for the first win against the Southern Hemisphere in 11 attempts (10, 2 Discs, BBC - Butler/Davies, PAL)

New Zealand (18) @ (16) Munster
- On an emotional night in Limerick, a 2nd string Munster team almost pulled off the shock upset. Munster were missing their stars who were on international duty, but the reserves put up a great fight and were leading 16-10 going into the final 5 minutes before Joe Rokocoko saved the day with a late try. Munster featured Peter Stringer, Rua Tipoki, Doug Howlett, Denis Leamy and captain Mick O'Driscoll. New Zealand featured Stephen Donald, Brad Thorn and Mils Muliaina. Friendly -
Barbarians (7) @ (55) Australia - In the Barbarians first ever visit to Australia, the Wallabies inflicted theier worst ever defeat, racing out to a 20-7 lead at the half and coasting home with 5 tries in the 2nd half. The tries came from Drew Mitchell (2), James Horwill, Matt Giteau, Stephen Moore, Ben Alexander, David Pocock and James O'Connor. The game was the last in the careers of Martin Corry and Josh Lewsey (10, 2 Discs, FOX - Clark/Martin/Kearns, PAL)

Friendly 1st test -
France (27) @ (22) New Zealand - France upset the All Blacks and recorded their 1st win in New Zealand in 15 years. France started strong, opening up a 17-3 lead in 27 minutes with tries from Francois Trinh-Duc and William Servat. The All Blacks fought back to tie the game 17-17 with tries from Liam Messam and Ma'a Nonu but France sealed the win with an intercept try from Maxime Medard. The All Blacks were led by Mils Muliaina but were missing Richie McCaw, Daniel Carter, Ali Williams, Rodney So'oialo, Conrad Smith and Sitiveni Sivivatu (10, 1 Disc, SKY NZ - Nisbett/Fox/Smith, PAL)

Friendly - Australia (18) @ (9) England - In the opening game of their Autumn international series, an injury-ravaged England succumbed to the"Old Enemy" despite leading at the half. Jonny Wilkinson made his 1st start in 18 months for England and scored all their points to give England a 9-5 lead at the break. But the Aussies recovered with a strong 2nd half and took the win with a try from Adam Ashley-Cooper and 2 penalties from Matt Giteau (10, 1 Disc, SKY-Harrison/Barnes, PAL)

Friendly - South Africa (23) @ (24) Saracens - South Africa continued their Northern Hemispshere tour with a game against the Saracens at Wembley Stadium, and came away with their 3rd straight loss. Despite leading 18-6 at the half, the Boks couldn't hold on and lost the game on a drop goal with 6 minutes left. Saracens fielded 7 South Africans + 2 englishmen born in South Africa and they were motivated to do well against their contrymen. The Boks tries came from Juan de Jongh and Jongi Nokwe (2). The Saracens tries came from Ernst Joubert and Brad Barritt with former Springbok fly-half Derrick Hougaard kicking 14 points, including the winning drop goal. Friendly - South Africa (10) @ (15) Ireland - In the mist and cold of Croke Park, Ireland won their 3rd game in a row over South Africa with a big defensive show. Both teams played good attacking football although Ireland failed to score a try as Jonathan Sexton, playing in place of Ronan O'Gara, scored all their points with the boot (5 penalties). South Africa led 10-6 at the half with a try from Schalk Burger and kicks from Morne Steyn but Ireland played great defense in the 2nd half and took their own kick chances to win the game (10, 2 Discs, BBC - Butler/Matthews, PAL)

Friendly - New Zealand (18) v (25) Barbarians - The Barbarians registered only their 2nd ever win over the All Blacks, and their 1st since 1973, and denied New Zealand an unbeaten record in their tour of the Northern Hemisphere. 3 tries from Bryan Habana (South Africa) and penalty kicks from Matt Giteau (Australia) and Morne Steyn (South Africa) did the damage with the All Blacks replies courtesy of Ben Smith and Anthony Boric. Friendly - South Africa (34) @ (31) Wales - An under-manned South African team survived an early deficit to beat the Welsh. Wales led 16-3 after 20 minutes but the Boks starting forcing errors from the Welsh and capitalised with 28 unanswered points. Wales scored 2 late tries to pull within 3 points but ran out of time. The Wales tries came from James Hook, Tom Prydie and Alun Wyn Jones. The Boks tries came from Odwa Ndungane, Dewald Potgieter and Juan de Jongh. Friendly - 2nd Test - England (21) @ (20) Australia - In a big upset, England recorded their 1st win in Australia since the 2003 World Cup Final and evened the Cook Cup series at 1-1. The winning points again came from the boot of substitute Jonny Wilkinson but the result was only settled when Australia missed a late penalty of their own. The England tries came from Ben Youngs and Chris Ashton while Toby Flood added 2 penalties (10, 1 Disc, SKY - Harrison/Barnes, PAL)

Friendly - South Africa (29) @ (25) Wales - The World Champions showed their credentials with a comeback win over the Welsh. Wales led 17-9 at the half thanks to great tries from George North (on debut) and James Hook. But the Boks fought back in the 2nd half with tries from Willem Alberts and captain Victor Matfield and secured the win with the boot of Morne Steyn (19 points). Matfield earned his 103rd cap, a Springbok record (10, 2 Discs, BBC - Butler/Moore, PAL)

Friendly - Australia (18) @ (35) England - England upset the Aussies with a fantastic display of attacking rugby, including a brilliant length-of-the-field try from Chris Ashton. Toby Flood kept England ticking along with 7 penalties and Chris Ashton scored 2 tries, the 2nd of which started in the England in-goal area before 2 quick passes sent Ashton racing 90 metres for the try. The Aussie points came from James O'Connor (2 penalties) and Kurtley Beale (1 try). Friendly - Samoa (10) @ (20) Ireland - Ireland finally secured their 1st win in the new Aviva Stadium, labouring to a win over Samoa. Tries from Jamie Heaslip and Ronan O'Gara did the damage and O'Gara also added 2 penalties. The Samoan try came from Alesana Tuilagi. Ireland also featured Peter Stringer and Devin Toner, who was winning his 1st cap (10, 2 Discs, BBC - Neilly/Constable, PAL)

Friendly - South Africa (17) @ (21) Scotland - In the driving rain in Edinburgh, Scotland scored a huge upset over the World Champions. The hero for the Scots was Dan Parks, who kicked all the points, and new captain Rory Lawson. South Africa led 6-0 after 4 minutes but Scotland clawed their way back to take the lead before holding on late to secure the win. South Africa featured Morne Steyn (4 penalties), Victor Matfield and Willem Alberts (10, 2 Discs, BBC - Cotter/Moore, PAL)

Friendly - Australia (6) @ (15) Munster - On a wet and windy night at Thomond Park, Munster recorded another win over the Wallabies, their 4th since 1961. Munster used a youthful side to upset the Aussie's midweek side, with Aussie Paul Warwick scoring all the points with 3 penalties and 2 drop goals. Both teams were tied 6-6 at the half, but Munster turned the screw after the break, forcing the Aussies to concede kicking opportunities that sealed the win. Friendly - Barbarians (31) @ (28) Wales - An attack-minded friendly was settled in sensational fashion as the Barbarians scored on the games final play to take the win. The Barbarians led 19-14 at the half but tired as the game wore on and trailed 28-18 with 6 minutes left before Mathieu Bastareaud and Isa Nacewa scored to stun the Welsh and take the win. The Bar Bars other tries came from Iesofa Tekori, Isa Nacewa and Sergio Parisse with the Wales tries coming from George North, Morgan Stoddard, Mike Phillips and Aled Brew. Wales also featured Stephen Jones, earning his 100th cap, Toby Faletau and new captain Sam Warburton. The Barbarians also featured Doug Howlett, Brock James, Joe van Niekerk, Martyn Williams (against his national team) and Willie Mason, the Australian ex-Rugby League player who had a big hand in the final 2 tries (10, 2 Discs, BBC - Butler/Bennett, PAL)

Friendly - Australia (24) @ (18) Wales - On an emotional day at the Millennium Stadium, Welsh fans bid farewell to winger Shane Williams who was playing his last game for the national team. Even though the result was not what he wanted, he scored a try with the final move of the match to send the fans home happy. The Aussies cameback from a 6-0 deficit at the half with tries from Will Genia, Lachlan Turner and Berrick Barnes. The other Welsh try came from Rhys Priestland (10, 2 Discs, BBC - Butler/Moore, PAL)

Friendly - Australia (6) @ (33) France - France banished the memory of their last meeting against the Wallabies with a dominating win in Paris. In 2010, Australia won 59-16 but the French had their measure this time, dominating the scrum and the breakdown. France led 16-6 at the half and crusied home in the 2nd half by keeping the Aussies off the scoreboard. The France tries came from Louis Picamoles, Wesley Fofana and a penalty try, while Frederic Michalak pulled the strings with the kicking game (3 conversions, 2 penalties, 1 drop goal). The Aussie points came from 2 penalties from Mike Harris (10, 2 Discs, ESPN - Ward/Phillips, PAL)

Friendly - Tonga (21) @ (15) Scotland - In a big upset in Aberdeen, Tonga claimed their 1st ever win over Scotland. The Scots dominated possession but paid the price for not converting pressure into points. The Tongans overturned a 6-3 deficit at the half to score 2 tries and claim the win. The tries came from Tukulua Lokotui and Fetu'u Vainikolo with Fangatapu Apikotoa adding 11 points with the boot. All the Scotland points came from 5 penalties by Greig Laidlaw. Friendly - New Zealand (21) @ (38) England - In a huge upset, England ended their Autumn series of internationals with a big win over the World Champions. England started the better and led 12-0 at the half before New Zealand scored 2 quick tries to pull within 15-14 after the break. England regained their composure though, and scored the next 23 points to take the win. The England tries came from Brad Barritt (his 1st for England), Chris Ashton and Manu Tuilagi, with Owen Farrell and Freddie Burns kicking 6 penalties between them. The New Zealand tries came from Julian Savea (2) and Keiran Read. The loss was the 1st for New Zealand in 20 matches and their worst ever defeat to England. Disc 1 is the full game from SKY. Friendly - 1st Test - England (32) @ (3) Argentina - England opened their 2 test tour of Argentina with a big win in Salta. An inexperienced squad was missing several top players, including captain Chris Robshaw and Dan Cole, but still managed to keep an equally inexperienced Pumas squad at arms length thanks to a big 1st half display. Tries from David Strettle, Billy Twelvetrees and Ben Morgan gave England a 25-3 lead at the half and despite a spirited fight-back by the Pumas in the 2nd half, England added a further try from Billy Vunipola and coasted home. England gave debuts to Christian Wade, Kyle Eastmond and Matt Kvesic (10, 1 Disc, BBC - Butler/Robinson, PAL)

Friendly - 2nd Test - England (51) @ (26) Argentina - England secured a first away series win over the Pumas since 1981 with an impressive win in Buenos Aires. Argentina started the brighter, holding a 12-6 lead after 25 minutes, but England scored 19 unanswered points to take a 25-12 lead in at the break and never trailed again. The England tries came from Freddie Burns, Rob Webber, Marland Yarde (2 tries on debut), Kyle Eastmond (his 1st for England) and 2 penalty tries as England asserted their superiority in the scrum. England also got 14 points from the boot of Burns and a penalty from Stephen Myler, who was making his international debut off the bench (10, 1 Disc, BBC - Butler/Gomarsall, PAL)

Friendly - South Africa (24) @ (15) Wales - South Africa kept their win streak against Wales going with a hard-fought victory at the Millennium Stadium. A tough 1st half saw the Boks make the most of their opportunities, scoring 2 tries, while Wales lost 2 players to injury and only kicked Penalties to trail 17-12. The pattern continued in the 2nd half with Wales losing another player to injury and the Boks sealed the win with another try. The South Africa tries came from Jean De Villiers, Bismarck Du Plessis and Fourie Du Preez. Friendly - Australia (30) @ (26) Wales - Australia extended their win streak over Wales to 9 games with an exciting win in Cardiff. The Wallabies overcame an early 13-3 deficit by scoring 27 unanswered points to take an unassailable lead they defended to the end despite a late flourish from the home team. The man-of-the-match award went to Quade Cooper. The Australia tries came from Christian Leali'ifano, Israel Folau and Joe Tomane. Once the Blue Bulls started to substitute freely, Saracens fought back but ultimately the deficit was too much. Pierre Spies made a comeback to the team in the 55th minute after an 18 month spell out with injury. Ireland dominated the 1st half and took a 25-8 lead in at the half and further extended their lead at the start of the 2nd half to take a 30-8 lead after 48 minutes. Former Scotland player Doddie Weir, who is suffering from Motor Neurone disease, brought out the match-ball at the start of the game and he whipped the crowd into a frenzy and the energy fed down to the Scottish team. They battled the All Blacks to a 3-3 tie at the half and even though the Kiwis pulled out to a 12 point lead late in the game, the Scots fought back and nearly won the game with a final play line-break that ended with a desperate last-ditch tackle by the Kiwis 10 metres from their own goal-line.
