Premiership Regular Season - Harlequins (39) v (39) Gloucester - At Twickenham Stadium, both teams put on a great Offensive display, scoring 10 tries between them. Gloucester had the better of the 1st half and led 17-15 at the half, but the 2nd half ebbed and flowed with Ross Chisholm tieing the game up for Harlequins in the final minute with a try. 'Quins had one final chance to steal the win but Nick Evans drop goal sailed just wide on the final play of the game. Premiership Regular Season - Leicester Tigers (6) @ (26) Saracens - At a rainy and windy Allianz Park, #1 Saracens saw off #3 Leicester to continue their unbeaten start to the season. Premiership Regular Season - London Irish (16) v (26) Saracens - Both teams traveled to America to stage the first ever Premiership match overseas, and it was Saracens who took the win and re-claimed top spot in the league. The match was played at the Red Bull Arena in New Jersey. Even though London Irish languished at the bottom of the table, they fought hard to take a 13-7 lead in at the half. But Saracens fought back in the 2nd half with Andy Goode kicking 4 penalties before sealing the win with a late try. The Saracens tries came from Andy Goode and Nick Tompkins. Premiership Regular Season - Exeter Chiefs (18) v (36) Saracens - A top of the table clash between #1 Exeter and #2 Saracens went the way of the home side, as Saracens survived the wind and the rain to re-claim top spot in the league. Both teams welcomed back their 6 Nations players, and it was Owen Farrell that put in a man-of-the-match performance (1 try, 1 penalty, 3 conversions) to help his team to the win. Premiership Regular Season - Newcastle Falcons (14) @ (23) Saracens - Saracens guaranteed top spot in the Premiership with a comeback win at home to Newcastle Falcons. Newcastle fought hard in the 1st half and took a 14-3 lead in at the break. But Saracens re-grouped and used a forward-based attack to get back in the game in the 2nd half, scoring 20 unanswered points to take the win. Premiership Semi-Final - Leicester Tigers (17) @ (44) Saracens - Saracens booked a place in their 3rd consecutive final with a big win over the Tigers at Allianz Park. Saracens flew out of the gate and took a 31-0 lead in at the half. Leicester attempted a comeback in the 2nd half but the deficit proved too big to overcome. Saracens tries came from Will Fraser, Chris Wyles (2) and Chris Ashton (2) with Owen Farrell and Charlie Hodgson combining for 3 penalties. Hodgson was playing his final home game before retirement. Premiership Semi-Final - Wasps (23) @ (34) Exeter Chiefs - Exeter Chiefs reached the Premiership final for the first time in their history after a tense home win over Wasps. Both teams were evenly matched in the 1st half with Exeter holding a small 20-14 lead at the break. The Chiefs then kept their noses in front the rest of the way, answering every Wasps score with a score of their own and they clinched the game with a penalty try on the last play of the game. Premiership Final - Saracens (28) v (20) Exeter Chiefs - Saracens beat Exeter Chiefs to win the Premiership final and become the first English side to complete a domestic and European double since 2004. Saracens had the better of the 1st half and led 23-6 at the break, but Exeter finally found their feet in the 2nd half and pulled within 3 points with 7 minutes to go. Saracens answered immediately, though, and finished the scoring with a flowing move that was capped off with the game-clinching try. Despite missing 4 starters (George Kruis, Owen Farrell, Chris Wyles and Duncan Taylor), Saracens proved they had strength in depth by using great Defense and opportunistic Offense to go in 12-6 at the half. The visitors then used the wind to their advantage in the 2nd half, keeping the Chiefs pinned in their own half while racking up 3 more tries to take the bonus-point win. Premiership Semi-Final - Saracens (16) @ (18) Exeter Chiefs - Exeter upset the reigning European Champions with a dramatic late win at Sandy Park and booked a return trip to the Premiership Final. After a tight 1st half that ended 6-6, the game ebbed and flowed in the 2nd half with each team trading tries. The game was won in the final minute, as Exeter's Henry Slade executed a great kick to touch inside the Saracens 22 and from the resulting lineout, the Chiefs bulled over for the game-winning try. Wasps led 16-13 at the half but under-dogs Leicester fought back to take a 20-16 lead after 52 minutes and looked to have done enough to win the game when Wasps re-took the lead with 2 minutes left to play which gave them the win. The Wasps try scorers were Kurtley Beale and Josh Bassett with Jimmy Gopperth adding 11 points with the boot. Premiership Final - Wasps (20) @ (23) Exeter Chiefs - In one of the great Finals, Exeter won their 1st Premiership title with an extra-time penalty at Twickenham. In a game of 2 halves, the Chiefs owned the 1st half an led 14-3 coming into the break. But Wasps scored a try with the last move of the half and used the momentum to start the 2nd half on fire, scoring 17 unanswered points to take a 20-14 lead after 54 minutes. Exeter fought back and forced extra-time with a last minute penalty before winning the game with a penalty 3 minutes from the end of extra-time. The win was Exeter's 17th league win in a row, equaling the Premiership record. The Exeter tries came from Jack Nowell and Phil Dollman with Gareth Steenson adding 13 points with the boot. Anglo-Welsh Cup - Round 3 - Gloucester (17) @ (17) Bath - The 2 old rivals met at a rainy Recreation Ground in Bath, and Gloucester escaped with a draw with a late try. Gloucester had the better of the 1st half and led 7-3 at the break. Bath fought back in the 2nd half and 3 penalties from Rhys Priestland and a try from Aled Brew gave the home team the lead entering the final 2 minutes. But Gloucester surged again and Ben Vellacott scored in the 78th minute with James Hook kicking the conversion to tie the game and give both teams a share of the points. Premiership Regular Season - Northampton (21) @ (50) Harlequins - In front of 78,000 people at Twickenham, Harlequins shook off their poor form to run riot over an equally struggling Northampton side. Harlequins started fast and ran in 5 tries in the 1st half to lead 31-0 at the break. Northampton scored 2 quick tries in the 2nd half to get on the scoreboard but 'Quins didn't let up and coasted home to the win. The Harlequins tries came from Dave Ward, Charlie Walker, Tim Visser (2), Danny Care (2) and Matt Luamanu with Teenage fly-half Marcus Smith instrumental for Quins, scoring 15 points and setting up 5 tries. The Northampton tries came from Rob Horne, Nic Groom and Mickey Haywood. Premiership Regular Season - Saracens (24) v (11) Harlequins - In the first Premiership rugby match to be played at the London Stadium, Saracens dominated their local rivals to move back up to 2nd in the table. Saracens, with some of their returning internationals back after the 6 Nations, ran out to an early 10-0 lead and an 18-6 lead at the half and never looked back. Saracens were missing Owen Farrell and George Kruis to injury but Maro Itoje put in a man-of-the-match performance to ensure the win. Saracens tries came from Liam Williams and Maro Itoje. Bath took a 26-13 lead in at the half and, despite pressure from Gloucester in the 2nd half, Bath capitalised on Gloucester mistakes to pull away and take the win. A tight 1st half ended with Exeter in front 7-0 and then they extended their lead to 14-0 early in the 2nd half. The Chiefs then used great Defense to keep Saracens from making a comeback, and the visitors only secured a losing bonus-point with a last-minute penalty try. The final minute also included a 25-man melee that resulted in an Exeter playing getting sent off. Premiership Regular Season - Saracens (12) @ (16) Bristol Bears - After a 5-month long break in the season due to the coronavirus lockdown, Bristol returned to action with a big win against the Champions at a rainy Ashton Gate. The win moved the Bears up to 2nd in the table. Both sides made heavy going of the game, combining for a huge 30 penalties, and the game wasn't settled until 4 minutes to play when the Bears scored a penalty-try to take the lead which they defended to the end.
