World Club Challenge - Manly Sea Eagles (2) @ (8) Wigan - In the inaugural World Club Challenge, Wigan hosted the Australian champions, Manly. A fiery game with many flashpoints was settled by Wigan's David Stephenson who kicked 4 penalties. Wigan also featured Joe Lydon, Henderson Gill, Andy Gregory, Shaun Edwards and Ellery Hanley. World Club Challenge - Widnes (30) v (18) Canberra Raiders - Widnes fought back from an early 12-0 deficit to beat the reigning Premier champions. A great game of attacking rugby was settled in the 2nd half after Mal Meninga of the Raiders went off injured at the half. Widnes out-scored Canberra 20 points to 6 with Meninga off the field with tries from Jonathan Davies, Martin Offiah, Richard Eyres and Darren Wright. Canberra also featured Gary Belcher, Laurie Daley, Ricky Stuart and Glenn Lazarus. Widnes also featured Alan Tait, David Hulme and Kurt Sorensen (8, 1 Disc, Micron - French/Murphy, PAL)

World Club Challenge - Wigan (20) @ (14) Brisbane Broncos - In the biggest club upset ever, Wigan defeated the regining NSWRL champions, the Brisbane Broncos, in Brisbane. Wigan took a 12-4 lead into half-time with tries from Dennis Betts and Barrie Jon-Mather and padded their lead with a Jason Robinson try early in the 2nd half. A spirited fight-back from the Broncos fell short and Wigan celebrated a famous win. Wigan featured Martin Offiah, Shaun Edwards, Frano Botica, Dennis Betts and Andy Farrell. World Club Challenge Round 4 - Canberra Raiders (18) @ (38) London Broncos - The Broncos shocked the visting Raiders with a big comeback win. Led by an ailing Shaun Edwards, who came off the interchange bench in the 1st half, and a huge game from Terry Matterson, the Broncos shook off an early 14-0 deficit to tie the game at 14-14 at the half and then dominated the 2nd half to secure the upset victory. The Broncos tries came from Terry Matterson (2), Peter Gill, Tulsen Tollett, Greg Barwick and Scott Roskell. The Canberra tries came from David Boyle (2), Jason Burnham and Luke Priddis. The Broncos also featured Martin Offiah and Tony Mestrov. World Club Challenge - Quarter Final - Hunter Mariners (22) @ (18) Wigan - Australian SuperLeague team Hunter stunned the English Premiership champions Wigan with a come-from-behind win. Wigan held a 14-4 lead early in the 2nd half before Hunter scored 4 unanswered tries to claim the win. Hunter featured Brett Kimmorley, John Carlaw, Robbie Ross, Nick Zisti and the Iro brothers ; Kevin and Tony. World Club Challenge - Final - Brisbane Broncos (36) v (12) Hunter Mariners - The reigning Premiership champions ran up a 26-0 lead in the 1st half and cruised him to take the title. The early tries came from Kevin Walters, John Plath and Darren Smith (3). The Mariners, in the club's last ever game, put up a spirited fightback in the 2nd half to close within 14 points through tries from Nick Zisti (2) and John Carlaw, but 2 late tries from Wendell Sailor and Steve Renouf sealed the win. The Broncos were led by Allan Langer and Darren Lockyer. The Mariners were led by coach Graham Murray and featured Brett Kimmorley and Kevin Iro (8, 1 Disc, FOX - Boland/Todd/Mulholland, PAL)

World Club Challenge - Melbourne Storm (44) v (6) St.Helens Saints - The annual match between the champions of Australia and the champions of England ended a very one-sided affair as the Storm demolished the Saints. The Storm had a 20-2 lead at the half and never looked like losing as they ran in 8 tries to 1 with Scott Hill (2), Aaron Moule, Marcus Bai, Wayne Evans and Dane Morgan doing the damage. The Storm also featured Brett Kimmorley, Robbie Ross, Scott Hill and Stephen Kearney. World Club Challenge - Brisbane Broncos (18) v (20) St.Helens Saints - The Saints avenged their loss in the same game the previous season with a comeback win against the Australian Champions. The Broncos led 12-6 at the break and extended their lead after the break with a Brad Meyers try. St.Helens then started the comeback with tries from Sean Long and Chris Joynt before winning the game on 2 FG's from Paul Sculthorpe and Sean Long. The Broncos featured Darren Lockyer, Lote Tuqiri, Wendell Sailor, Shaun Berrigan, Scott Prince and Gordon Tallis. World Club Challenge - Newcastle Knights (26) v (41) Bradford Bulls - The champions of England and Australia faced off in the wind and rain of Huddersfield and it was the Bulls that conquered the elements and triumphed in a high scoring game. The Bulls took a 24-16 lead in at the half thanks to a big game from Robbie Paul but he didn't return for the 2nd half. Andrew Johns had a big game for the Knights (1 try, 3 conversions) but even he couldn't make up the deficit. The Bulls also featured Michael Withers, Lee Gilmour, Lesley Vainikolo, Robbie Paul, Paul Deacon and Stuart Fielden. World Club Challenge - Brisbane Broncos (14) v (18) St.Helens Saints - 2 of the biggest teams in the world met in Bolton to see who was the best and it was the Saints that won out, securing the treble of Challenge Cup, Superleague champions and World Champions. A tight game was won in the 2nd half as the Saints cameback from a 12-6 deficit with tries from Paul Sculthorpe and Ade Gardner. World Club Challenge - Melbourne Storm (4) @ (11) Leeds Rhinos - Leeds claimed the trophy in a very physical game played in the driving rain and mud of Elland Road. The game MVP was Kevin Sinfield who kicked 3 goals and a drop goal in very windy conditions. World Club Challenge - Manly Sea Eagles (28) v (20) Leeds Rhinos - The annual battle between the Northern and Southern Hemisphere champions finally went the way of the Aussies as they defeated Leeds to take the trophy back to Australia for the first time since 2003. The Sea Eagles only led 12-4 at the half but scored 3 quick tries after the break to take control. Leeds mounted a comeback but Manly were always in control and saw out the win. The Manly tries were scored by Brett Stewart (2), Anthony Watmough (2) and Steve Matai. World Club Challenge - Melbourne Storm (18) v (10) Leeds Rhinos - On a rainy night in Leeds, Melbourne reclaimed the World Club Challenge trophy for Australia. The game was tied 4-4 at the half but the game heated up in the 2nd half with Danny Maguire scoring for Leeds before the Storm took the lead and the win with tries from Luke MacDougall and Anthony Quinn. Leeds also featured Australian Danny Buderus off the interchange bench and he was involved in a small skirmish in the 2nd half after a big tackle from Adam Blair. World Club Challenge - St.George Illawarra Dragons (21) v (15) Wigan Warriors - Australia retained the World Club Challenge as the Dragons held off a strong Wigan team at the DW Stadium. Wigan led 15-14 at the half with 2 tries from George Carmont but the Dragons dominated the 2nd half with a try from Cameron King, backed up by a great defensive effort. The other Dragons' tries came from Brett Morris (2) and Matt Cooper. Wigan also featured Sam Tomkins. Leeds led 16-6 at the half and despite a brief fightback by Manly in the 2nd half, Leeds held on to win. The Rhinos tries came from Kallum Watkins, Ryan Hall (2) including a 100 metre interception try, Ben Jones-Bishop and Carl Ablett. The Manly tries came from Brett Stewart and Dale Cherry-Evans. World Club Challenge - Melbourne Storm (18) v (14) Leeds Rhinos - In a much-anticipated match-up of the 2 best teams in the World, it was the Storm that claimed their 3rd World Club Challenge trophy at Leeds home ground, Headingley. A tight 1st half ended 8-8 and when the Storm scored 2 early tries in the 2nd half, they proved too much for the Rhinos to overcome and the Storm held on for the win. The Melbourne tries came from Billy Slater, Jesse Bromwich and Tohu Harris with Cameron Smith adding 6 points with his boot. The Leeds tries came from Ryan Hall and Jamie Jones-Buchanan with Kevin Sinfield adding 6 points with his kicking game. The Storm also featured Gareth Widdop, Cooper Cronk and Ryan Hoffman. World Club Challenge - South Sydney Rabbitohs (39) @ (0) St.Helens Saints - Australian champions South Sydney dominated English champions St.Helens at Langtree Park, running in 7 tries and keeping the Saints off the scoreboard. The damage was done in the 1st half, with the Rabbitohs going in at the break with a 24-0 lead. The Saints had their chances but great Defense by the visitors kept the Saints from touching down. The South Sydney tries came from Glenn Stewart, Dylan Walker, Greg Inglis, Joel Reddy (2), Luke Kreary and Chris McQueen with Adam Reynolds also adding 5 conversions and a drop goal. Both teams were evenly matched at the half, with the sides level at 4-4, but the Cowboys turned on the style in the 2nd half, scoring 34 unanswered points. World Club Challenge - Brisbane Broncos (18) @ (27) Warrington Wolves - For the first time since 2012, an English team won in the World Club Challenge, as the Wolves upset the Broncos. Warrington were quick out of the blocks and ran out to a 24-6 lead at the half before the Broncos staged a fight-back in the 2nd half. But the Wire held on with great Defense and took the win. The Warrington try scorers were Kevin Brown (on debut), Ryan Atkins, Matty Russell and Tom Lineham with Declan Patton adding 11 points with the boot. World Club Challenge - Cronulla Sharks (6) @ (22) Wigan Warriors - Wigan claimed a record 4th World Club Challenge with a dominating win over the Australian Champions. The Sharks started well but couldn't convert their early pressure into points and Wigan made them pay, scoring 2 tries to take a 10-0 lead in at the break. The Warriors then used great Defense in the 2nd half to keep the Sharks at bay and Wigan took the record-breaking win. The Wigan try scorers were Joe Burgess (3) and Oliver Gildart. World Club Challenge - Penrith Panthers (12) @ (16) Wigan Warriors - In a hard-hitting game at the DW Stadium in Wigan, the champions of Australia, Penrith, faced off against the Champions of England, Wigan, and it was the home-town Warriors who won to earn their 5th World Club Challenge title. Wigan held a 12-10 lead at the break despite being under the cosh for most of the half. The game hinged on 2 referee decisions in the 2nd half; Firstly, Wigan were awarded a try when it seemed a double-movement infringement had occurred. Secondly, Penrith had a last-play, game-tieing try chalked off when video replays failed to confirm a grounding. The Wigan tries came from Abbas Miski, Kruise Leeming and Jake Wardle.
