2004
Disc 1
Rowing - Mens Coxless Fours Final - In a nail-biting finish at the Schinias Olympic Rowing Centre, the British Men's Coxless Four team of Steve Williams, James Cracknell, Ed Coode and Matthew Pinsent narrowly won Gold, beating the World Champions Canada into Silver. The final was stroke-for-stroke, with both teams taking turns in the lead, and it was Great Britain that surged ahead on the line, wining in a time of 6:06.98, 8 hundredths of a second faster than the Canadians. The Bronze medal went to Italy. With the win, Matthew Pinsent won his 4th Olympic Gold medal (9, 55 minutes, BBC - Herbert/Topolski, PAL)

Disc 2
Womens 800 metres Final - Great Britain's Kelly Holmes ran a perfect race to win her first ever Olympic Gold medal. In a slow race, Holmes moved from last to first as the race unfolded, then out-sprinted reigning champion Maria Mutola in an epic duel over the last 80 metres to win. Silver went to Hasna Benhassi (Morocco) and Jolanda Ceplak (Slovenia) took Bronze (9, 10 minutes, BBC - Cram/Foster/Gunnell, PAL)

Womens 1500 metres Final - Great Britain's Kelly Holmes made history as she won the middle-distance double with a confident race, becoming the first English woman or man to win the 800m and 1500m titles at the same Olympics. Holmes won Gold in a time of 3:57.90, a new British record. Silver went to Tatyana Tomashova (Russia) and Bronze to Maria Cioncan (Romania) (9, 24 minutes, BBC - Cram/Foster/Gunnell, PAL)

Mens 4 x 100 metre relay Final - In a huge upset, the Great Britain team of Jason Gardener, Darren Campbell, Marlon Devonish and Mark Lewis-Francis ran a perfect race to upset the USA, holding them off on the line to win by just 0.1 second. The USA team of Shawn Crawford, Justin Gatlin, Coby Miller and Maurice Greene were heavily favoured but poor baton exchanges doomed any chance they had of a Gold. Bronze went to the Nigeria team of Olusoji Fasuba, Uchenna Emedolu, Aaron Egbele and Deji Aliu (9, 21 minutes, BBC - Cram/Dickenson/Gunnell, PAL)
