North Carolina Div-4A Final - Garner Trojans (40) v (21) Harding Rams - In Memorial Stadium, Charlotte, the underdog Garner Trojans upset the home-town favoured Harding Rams to win their 1st State title. The 1st half turned into a Defensive stalemate with the score tied at 7-7 at the break. But in the 2nd half, Garner scored 33 unanswered points to build a huge lead they defended to the end. The Rams out-gained the Trojans on Offense but committed 6 turnovers, 2 of which went for TD's. The Garner Offense was led by RB Anthony Barbour (23-264-4 including TD runs of 55 and 60 yards) who had a huge game. Harding was led by QB Ed Lawing (265 yds passing + 3 TD's inc. 86 yd TD pass) but he was hampered by a hand injury and gave up a fumble and an interception, both returned for TD's (8, Downloaded from the Internet, 1 Disc, HCTV - Harlow/Lee, NTSC)
