Intertsate Regular Season - Camden County Wildcats (28) @ (42) St.Thomas Aquinas Raiders - #13 ranked St.Thomas Aquinas from Florida used a strong aerial game to beat #6 ranked Camden County of Georgia in a tough battle in Fort Lauderdale. The Raiders jumped out to a 24-7 lead at the half, with QB Jacob Rudock (15-20-333-4) having a big game. But the Wildcats had a strong 3rd quarter, and only trailed 24-21 before the Raiders sealed the win with 2 quick TD's and a big defensive effort in the 4th quarter. Georgia 5A Final - Brookwood (52) v (38) Colquitt County - Brookwood won their 2nd State title in a shooutout in the Georgia Dome, in the highest scoring State Final in history. Brookwood led 21-14 at the half with QB Ben McLane (8-13-144-1) and RB Nick Tompkins (144 yards + 2 TD's) having big games, but Colquitt County stayed in contention thanks to a big game from QB Tyler Brown (33-46-354-2) and RB Tevin King (20-205-1). Georgia Div-5A Regular Season - Gainesville Red Elephants (42) @ (23) Cedar Shoals Jaguars - Gainesville finally shook off the Jaguars in the 4th quarter with a shootout win in Athens. Led by QB Deshaun Watson (20-38-234-3 + 17-118-3) the Red Elephants took a 14-10 lead in at the half, then extended their lead to 28-10 before the Jaguars fought back to 28-23 in the 4th quarter. The Red Elephants then used great Defense and 2 Watson TD's to ice the game and take the win. Gainesville also featured WR Caleb Haymen (3-37-2). Georgia Div-5A Regular Season - Flowery Branch Falcons (45) @ (55) Gainesville Red Elephants - Gainesville won their 1st regional title since 2011 with a shootout win over their nemesis, the Falcons. Led by QB Deshaun Watson (14-27-245-4 + 201 yards rushing + 2 TD's), the Red Elephants took a 35-14 lead in at the half then held off a spirited Falcon fight-back in the 2nd half to take the victory and the title. Both teams combined for 1,046 yards of total Offense. Georgia 4A Final - Cartersville Purple Hurricanes (10) v (0) Buford Wolves - Cartersville secured its first undefeated season since 1999, and ended their 16-year state title drought with a dominating win over defending champion Buford. The Purple Hurricanes were led by Sophomore QB Trevor Lawrence (11-23-141-1) and he led his team to a 10-0 lead at the half, and they held off the Wolves in the 2nd half to take the title. Interstate Regular Season - Greater Atlanta Christian Spartans (17) @ (21) Valor Christian Eagles - In an interstate battle, it was the home-town Eagles from Colorado that prevailed, rallying in the 2nd half to win. Valor Christian ran out to a 14-9 lead at the half but GAC re-took the lead in the 3rd quarter. The Eagles rallied again in the 4th quarter, re-took the lead and used great Defense to close out the game. The stars for Valor Christian were their 3 QB's ; Dylan McCaffrey, Blake Stenstrom and Luke McCaffrey, RB Joshia Davis, LB's Michael O’Donnell (6 tackles) and Bubba Thibault (5 tackles) and DB Noah Kuzma (9 tackles).
