Womens Triathon - Flora Duffy of the Bahamas won her countries first female Commonwealth Gold medal with a dominant performance. Duffy and England's Jessica Learmonth broke clear in the cycling section of the race, then Duffy won Gold with a strong running section, beating Learmonth into Silver. Mens Triathlon - South Africa's Henri Schoeman won a surprise Gold on the opening day of the tournament, pulling away on the running section to win in 52 minutes 31 seconds. Australia's Jacob Birtwhistle won Silver and Scotland's Marc Austin took Bronze. Alistair and Jonny Brownlee, in contention at the start of the running section, faded to 10th and 7th respectively. Mixed Team Relay Triathlon - Australia took Gold in a very competitive Mixed Team Relay, beating England with a decisive burst in the 3rd leg of the race. The Australia team of Gillian Backhouse, Matthew Hauser, Ashleigh Gentle and Jacob Birtwhistle finished 52 seconds ahead of the England team of Vicky Holland, Jonathan Brownlee, Jessica Learmonth and Alistair Brownlee. The New Zealand team of Nicole van der Kaay, Ryan Sissons, Andrea Hewitt and Tayler Reid finished in Bronze position. Womens 3M Synchro Springboard Diving - In a crazy event, hampered by strong winds, technical failures and ill-placed shadows, Australia's 'B' team of Esther Qin and Georgia Sheehan sensationally won Gold. The Aussie 'A' team of Maddison Keeney and Anabelle Smith went from Gold to last place when they failed on their final dive. The Silver went to England's Alicia Blagg and Katherine Torrance, despite the pair having only been together 4 months. The Bronze went to Malaysia's Mun Yee Leong and Nur Dhabitah Sabri. Womens 63kg Weightlifting - The competition went to form as Canada's Maud Charron dominated the event, posting a Games record total of 220kg (98kg snatch, 122kg Clean & Jerk). England's Zoe Smith (207 kg), won Silver despite a back injury, with South Africa's Mona Pretorious (206kg) winning Bronze, her first major tournament medal. Netball Pool B - England (54) v (45) New Zealand - England consolidated their position on top of Pool B with a record win against the Kiwis. The victory was England's first Commonwealth triumph over New Zealand and also their largest margin of victory ever over the Kiwis. Both teams were evenly matched in the 1st half, with England holding a slight 26-24 lead at the break. But after the break, England put on the pressure and ran out to a 5 point lead which they defended to the end, earning a long-awaited win. England featured Jo Harten (27 goals), Helen Housby (27 goals) and Serena Guthrie (17 assists, 1 Interception). Netball Semi-Final - England (56) v (55) Jamaica - England overcame a big half-time deficit to sensationally beat Jamaica on a last-play goal to book a place in their first ever Commonwealth Games Final. In a very physical game, Jamaica used a dominant game from GS Jhaniele Fowler-Reid (47 goals) to take a 33-27 lead at the half. But in the 2nd half, England fought back into contention and actually led 54-55 with 30 seconds left in the game before Jamaica scored to tie the game. England took the centre pass and worked an opening but missed the shot, only for Jo Harten (16 goals) to snag the rebound and score the game-winning goal as time expired. England also featured Helen Housby (29 goals, 7 assits), Chelsea Pitman (31 assists) and Geva Mentor (6 deflections). Netball Gold Medal - England (52) v (51) Australia - In a dramatic and sensational finish to the tournament, England upset the #1 team in the World to win their first major tournament Gold medal. England came out fired up, with GK Geva Mentor shutting down the Aussie GS Caitlin Bassett, but the Aussies adjusted and went in at the half tied 25-25. The 4th quarter saw Australia pull ahead by 4 points but England responded with a strong end to the game and, with the scores level at 51-51 and with 20 seconds left, England took the final centre pass of the game. Jo Harten missed a rushed attempt at goal with the clock down to 5 seconds, but Helen Housby rebounded. Her shot missed but a late contact call saw Housby given a second chance, and as the final second ticked off, she scored the winning goal. Mens Basketball Pool B - England (81) v (54) Cameroon - England qualified for the knockout stages of the competition with a tough win over a talented Cameroon team. England held a tight 37-31 lead at the half but used a strong 3rd quarter to take control of the game, taking a 21 point lead into the 4th quarter that they held on to to the end. England featured Kofi Josephs (26 points), Adam Thoseby (15 points) and Orlan Jackman (8 rebounds). Cameroon featured Felix Thierry Bogmis (14 points), Arnold Akola Kome (11 points) and Franck Yangue (10 rebounds) (10, No Half-Time, 1 Disc, BBC - ?, PAL)

Athletics - Mens 200M Final - In a sensational race, Jereem Richards of Trinidad and Tobago claimed Gold but only after the race winner, England's Zharnel Hughes, was disqualified for making contact with Richards just before the finish line. Richards and Hughes were initially given the same time with the photo-finish declaring Hughes the winner. While on his lap of honour he found out he was disqualified and, despite an appeal, the decision was upheld and Richards declared the winner. Athletics - Mens 4x100M Relay Final - England won an unexpected Gold with a near-perfect race, beating South Africa into Silver and Jamaica into Bronze. The England quartet of Reuben Arthur, Zharnel Hughes, Richard Kilty and Harry Aikines-Aryeetey (all new from the Gold-winning World Championship team) executed clean hand-overs to get their noses in front and held on in the final 100 metres to take the win. Athletics - Womens 4x100M Relay Final - In the final track event of the games, England won Gold with a sensational race. The England team of Asha Philip, Dina Asher-Smith, Bianca Williams and Lorraine Ugen executed their hand-overs brilliantly and found themselves in front in the final 100 metres. Lorraine Ugen, a late sub into the team, managed to hold on and England took Gold with Jamaica taking Silver and Nigeria taking Bronze. Athletics - Womens Heptathlon - England's Katarina Johnson-Thompson finally won her first major tournament Gold medal with a gutsy display over the 2 days. KJT suffered a leg injury on the 1st day but nursed it perfectly through day 2 to win the Gold with a score of 6,255 points. Canada's Nina Schultz took Silver while England's Niamh Emerson used a great 800 metres race to finish with the Bronze.
