31/08/24 - Abilene Christian (51) @ (52) Texas Tech - In their opening game of the season, Texas Tech escaped an upset at Jones Stadium with an Overtime win over their near-neighbours from the FCS. Tech scored on all but one of their 1st half drives and went in at the break 32-22. But the Wildcats fought back and sent the game into Overtime with a FG with 5 seconds to play. The teams traded TD's in Overtime, but the Wildcats went "all-in" after their score, and went for 2-points and the win. For the 1st time all game, the Tech Defense held and the home team took the win. 05/10/24 - Alabama (35) @ (40) Vanderbilt - In a huge upset, unranked Vanderbilt beat #1 ranked Alabama to record their first ever victory over a top-ranked team. The Commodores had lost all 60 games against AP top-five teams, and hadn't beaten Alabama on the field in 40 years. Vanderbilt were never in trouble in the game as they raced out to a 23-14 lead at the half, then 40-28 in the 4th quarter before holding off a late charge from the Tide. After the game, the home crowd tore down the goal-post and threw it into the Cumberland River. 12/10/24 - Ohio State (31) @ (32) Oregon - In front of a record crowd of 61,128 at Autzen Stadium, #3 Oregon hosted #2 Ohio State and the game lived up to the hype, with the Ducks surviving a furious final drive by the Buckeyes to stay unbeaten on the season. Both teams were evenly matched throughout and it was the Ducks that found themselves leading by 1 point with 1:47 to play. Ohio State had the ball last, but could only get to the Oregon 26 yard line before time ran out and the Ducks celebrated the win. The Mean Green did hold Texas Tech to 14 points in the 2nd half, but the result was never in doubt. SMU scored 3 non-offensive touchdowns (interception return, fumble return, punt return) while also putting up 375 yards of total Offense. The Bears led 35-10 late in the 3rd quarter before the 'Canes finally put it all together in the 4th quarter. The Red Raiders ran out to an 18-3 lead at the half, but the Wildcats fought back with 16 unanswered points to take the lead in the 4th quarter. 19/10/24 - Georgia (30) @ (15) Texas - A heavyweight SEC battle between 2 Top-5 teams didn't disappoint, as #5 Georgia upset #1 Texas in Austin. The Bulldogs had the better of the 1st half and took a 23-0 lead in at the half. But the Longhorns rallied in the 3rd quarter and scored 15 unanswered point to get back into the game, with the help of some "home-team" refereeing. The Georgia Defense then stepped up and held Texas scoreless the rest of the way to close out the game and take the big win. Both teams shared TD's in the 1st period, but Arizona State couldn't respond to a Texas TD in the 2nd Overtime and the Longhorns held on for the win.
