28/03/15 - Texas Tech Spring Game - Texas Tech completed their Spring practice in Grande Communications Stadium, Midland with a scrimmage of 2 x 15 minute quarters. Tech was in Midland because Jones Stadium was being renovated. The Offense was led by QB's Patrick Mahomes (12-16-169-2) and Nic Shimonek (3-9-11-0) with the RB's, led by Justin Stockton, contributing 69 yards on the ground. The re-vamped Defense, under 1st year DC David Gibbs, showed good hustle to get 3 sacks and several pass break-ups. 03/09/15 - North Carolina (13) v (17) South Carolina - In the season opener for both teams, it was the Gamecocks that took the win and state bragging rights. North Carolina had the better of the 1st half and led 13-10 at the half. But the Gamecocks shut-out the Tarheels in the 2nd half and sealed the win with an end-zone interception with 3:48 left. South Carolina were led by QB Connor Mitch (9-22-122-1 + 10-44-0), who was making his 1st career start, RB Brandon Wilds (14-51-0), WR Pharoh Cooper (3-45-1) and LB Skai Moore (10 tackles, 2 interceptions). 04/09/15 - UT-Martin (3) @ (76) Mississippi - #17 ranked Ole Miss opened their season with a lop-sided and record-breaking win in Oxford. The Rebels were never challenged, taking a 41-0 lead in at the half, and coasted home. The Rebels scored their most points in a game since 1935 and racked up 662 yards of total Offense while holding the Skyhawks to only 290 yards. 04/09/15 - Baylor (56) @ (21) SMU - #4 ranked Baylor opened their season with a shootout win in Dallas. SMU were debuting their new Head Coach Chad Morris and he had the Mustangs playing inspired football as they were only down 28-21 at the half. But the Bears turned on the jets in the 2nd half, scoring 28 unanswered points to take the win. 05/09/15 - Portland State (24) @ (17) Washington State - Portland State opened their season with a huge upset win over the PAC-12 Cougars in the rain in Pullman. Despite being shut-out in the 1st half and out-gained on Offense 411 yards to 294 yards, the Vikings used a strong rushing attack (233 yards) and 2 turnovers to stay in the game. The Vikings scored 17 unanswered points at the start of the 2nd half to take a lead then won the game with a last minute Defensive stand. The Red Raiders held a 42-31 lead at the half but scored 17 unanswered points after the break to break the game open, then defended that lead to the end. Both teams were evenly matched in the 1st half, with BYU taking a 24-14 lead in at the half. But Nebraska re-gained momentum in the 3rd quarter and reeled off 14 uanswered points to take a 28-24 lead into the 4th quarter. BYU fought back to within a point and then used a last play 42 yard "Hail Mary" TD pass from the back-up QB to complete a stunning comeback. Both teams were evenly matched through 3 quarters with the Aggies holding a slim 17-14 lead going into the final quarter. But the Aggies took control of the game with 2 TD drives from QB Kyle Allen (15-26-198-2) and a strong defensive stand from the Defense and the Aggies held on for the win. 12/09/15 - Notre Dame (34) @ (27) Virginia - In stunning fashion, #9 ranked Notre Dame used a last-minute TD pass from a back-up QB to stay undefeated on the season. The game ebbed and flowed, with the Irish starting fast and taking an early 12-0 lead before the Cavaliers fought back to take a 14-12 lead in at the half. The Irish then controlled the 3rd quarter before the Cavaliers again fought back to take a 27-26 lead with 1:54 left in the game. The Spartans led 14-7 at the half and 31-21 in the 4th quarter before the Ducks rallied with a late score but the Spartans used a great Defensive stand in the final seconds to secure the win. Texas A&M had a chance to win in regulation but missed a 38 yard FG on the last play. The Aggies still managed to wrap up the win in Overtime, scoring on a 20 yard TD pass the holding out Arkansas with a big defensive stand. 26/09/15 - TCU (55) @ (52) Texas Tech - In a shootout in Lubbock, #3 ranked TCU survived an upset bid by Texas Tech but needed a last minute fluke TD to do so. Both teams Offense's were unstoppable with both teams racking up 1,357 yards of Total Offense (750 for TCU, 607 for Tech). Both teams traded scores throughout the game but it was Texas Tech that held a 52-48 lead with 5 minutes left in the game. TCU cobbled together 1 last drive for the win and on 4th-and-goal at the Tech 4, TCU threw the game winning TD pass. The pass was tipped by the primary WR and caught at the back of the end-zone by the RB trailing the play. Tech almost stole the win on the final play, using multi-laterals to get to the TCU 10 yard line but were tackled short of the end-zone.
