Led by QB's Davis Webb (25-37-354-4 including a 75 yard TD pass) and Tanner Tausch (22-36-199-1), the Offense took a 34-19 lead in at the half and despite a fight-back in the 2nd half from the Defense, the Offense closed out the game. 28/08/14 - Texas A&M (52) @ (28) South Carolina - The post-Johnny Manziel era started at Texas A&M with a huge road win in Columbia. The Aggies new QB Kenny Hill (44-60-511-3) had a big game in his 1st career start, setting a team record for single game passing yards and completions. The Aggies led 31-14 at the half and never looked back, holding South Carolina to only 67 yards rushing. Texas A&M also featured RB Trey Williams (13-78-1) and WR Malcolme Kennedy (14-137-0). 30/08/14 - Central Arkansas (35) @ (42) Texas Tech - Texas Tech opened their season with a tight win over FCS school Central Arkansas. The Bears started the better and held a 16-7 lead in the 2nd quarter before the Red Raiders scored 2 late TD's to lead 21-16 at the half. Texas Tech had the better of the 2nd half but after the Bears pulled with 7 points, the Offense needed to run out the clock to seal the win. 30/08/14 - Penn State (26) v (24) Central Florida - Penn State kicked off their season in Dublin, Ireland with a last-second win over UCF. Penn State QB Christian Hackenburg (32-47-454-1) had a huge game, setting a school single game passing yards record, and led the Nittany Lions on a 55 yard drive in the final minute to set up a game-winning 36 yard FG on the final play. The game also marked the debut of Penn State coach James Franklin. Penn State also featured RB Zach Zwinak (12-32-1) and WR's Geno Lewis (8-173-1) and DaeSean Hamilton (11-165-0). 30/08/14 - Florida State (37) v (31) Oklahoma State - #1 ranked Florida State avoided an upset loss with a tight win in Dallas, Texas. The Seminoles never trailed in the game but couldn't shake the Cowboys who pulled within 6 points with 2 minutes to go. Florida State claimed the on-side kick though and ran out the clock for the win. Florida State were led by QB Jameis Winston (25-40-370-1), RB Karlos Williams (23-66-0) and WR Rashad Greene (11-203-1). 05/09/14 - Washington State (13) @ (24) Nevada - Nevada made sure the visiting Cougars left Reno without a win after a big all-around win. The Nevada Offense rushed for 214 yards and the Defense forced 2 turnovers as well as holding the Cougars to only 38 yards rushing. The Wolfpack ran out to an early 14-0 lead and managed to keep the Cougars at arms-length the rest of the way. 06/09/14 - Georgia Tech (38) @ (21) Tulane - On an emotional day in New Orleans, Tulane opened their new, on-campus Stadium. But despite a big effort, Georgia Tech ran out winners. A high scoring 1st half ended 24-21 to the Yellow Jackets, but Tulane actually led 21-14 in the 2nd quarter. Georgia Tech controlled the 2nd half and shut-out the Green Wave to take the win. After a slow start, Texas Tech recovered to hold a 16-13 lead at the half. Both teams went toe-to-toe in the 2nd half but the Red Raiders used a late Defensive stop to seal the win. 06/09/14 - Virginia Tech (35) @ (21) Ohio State - In front of the biggest home crowd ever at Buckeye Stadium (107,517), the visiting Hokies used a huge defensive performance to upset #8 ranked Ohio State. Virginia Tech forced 7 sacks, 11 tackles for a loss of yards and 3 interceptions, with the final pick coming in the final minute that was returned for the game-clinching TD. BYU jumped out to a 23-0 lead in the 2nd Quarter but Houston scored 15 unanswered points to go in at the half down 23-15. Both sides were even in the 2nd half and BYU protected their lead to win the game. BYU were led by QB Taysom Hill (21-34-200-1 + 26-160-1), RB Jamaal Williams (28-139-2) and WR Jordan Leslie (6-79-0). 13/09/14 - Texas (17) v (20) UCLA - 12th ranked UCLA staged a remarkable comeback against Texas in Arlington Stadium with the help of their back-up QB. UCLA lost their starting QB Brett Hundley in the 1st quarter to an arm injury and he was replaced by Jerry Neuheisel (23-30-178-2), who led the Bruins on a 2nd half comeback to overturn a 10-3 deficit at the half. Neuheisel won the game with a 33 yard TD pass with 3 minutes left in the game. UCLA also featured RB Paul Perkins (24-126-0 + 5-69-0) and WR Jordan Payton (4-64-1). 13/09/14 - East Carolina (28) @ (21) Virginia Tech - East Carolina upset #17 Virginia Tech for their 1st win at Lane Stadium since 1991. The Pirates did their damage early, taking a 21-0 lead into the 2nd quarter, but the Hokies fought back with 21 unanswered points to tie the game with 1:20 left. The Pirates then sensationally won the game with a 65 yard TD drive, capped of with a 1 yard TD run with 16 seconds left. 13/09/14 - Arkansas (49) @ (28) Texas Tech - In a battle of contrasting Offensive philosophies, it was the rushing attack of Arkansas that prevailed over the passing attack of Texas Tech. The Razorbacks amassed 438 yards rushing and scored 7 rushing TD's, led by RB's Alex Collins (27-212-2) and Jonathan Williams (22-145-4). 13/09/14 - USC (31) @ (37) Boston College - On an emotional night in Alumni Stadium, Boston College upset #9 ranked USC for their 1st win over a top-10 team in 10 years. The Eagles were honouring the memory of 9/11 victim and BC alum Welles Crowther by wearing red bandanas. USC started the better and led 17-6 in the 2nd quarter, but BC scored 24 unanswered points to take a 30-17 lead in the 4th quarter. USC scored 2 late TD's to get within 7 points but the Eagles held on for the win. BC were led by QB Tyler Murphy (5-13-54-0 + 13-191-1) who had a huge game. 20/09/14 - Florida (21) @ (42) Alabama - #3 ranked Alabama used a strong 2nd half to finally dispose of the upstart Gators and stay unbeaten on the season. Alabama QB Blake Simms (23-33-445-4 including 87 and 79 yard TD passes) and WR Amari Cooper (10-201-3) had huge games, and needed to as the Tide committed 4 turnovers that Florida converted into 3 TD's. 20/09/14 - Mississippi State (34) @ (29) LSU - Mississippi State knocked of #8 LSU in Death Valley but had to survive a furious LSU rally to do so. The Bulldogs were in charge for 3 quarters and held a 34-10 lead early in the 4th quarter. But the Tigers suddenly got untracked and scored 19 unanswered points to pull within 5 points, only for a last-play "Hail Mary" to be intercepted at the goal-line. The Bulldogs win ended a 14 game losing streak to the Tigers and gave them their 1st win in Tiger Stadium since 1991. But Arizona stunned the Bears with 36 points in the 4th quarter including a game-winning 47 yard "Hail Mary" TD pass on the last play of the game. 20/09/14 - Clemson (17) @ (23) Florida State - #1 ranked Florida State survived a huge upset attempt by the #22 ranked Tigers, pulling out the win in Overtime. The Noles were missing Heisman Trophy winning QB Jameis Winston who was suspended for the game, but back-up QB Sean Maguire (21-39-304-1) had a good game in relief. After a tight 1st half, the Tigers went in at the break 10-3 up but the Noles fought back to force overtime and completed the comeback with a TD run after Clemson were held on downs. Oregon got their noses in front in the 3rd quarter and held off a late Washington State charge to take the win. At the Dallas Cowboys stadium in Arlington, Arkansas jumped out to a 28-14 lead after 3 quarters, but the Aggies scored 2 unanswered TD's to force OT then completed the comeback by holding the Razorbacks on downs after they had scored a TD of their own. 27/09/14 - Colorado (56) @ (59) California - In a shootout in Berkeley, the Bears claimed their 1st PAC-12 win in 15 games with a 2 overtime defeat of the Buffaloes. Both QB's were on fire and set an NCAA record with both QB's passing for 7 TD's each. Colorado owned the 1st half and went in 28-14 up at the break. But the Bears owned the 2nd half and the Buffaloes needed a TD with 21 seconds left to force overtime. The Bears stopped Colorado on their 2nd possession and then kicked a FG of their own to take the win. After a low scoring 1st half that Arizona led 7-3 at the break, the Wildcats dominated the 3rd quarter before the Ducks stormed back to tie the game in the 4th quarter. 04/10/14 - Texas A&M (31) @ (48) Mississippi State - #12 ranked Mississippi State continued their hot streak with a dominating win over #6 ranked and unbeaten Texas A&M. The Bulldogs started fast and held a 28-10 lead at the half, a lead that they built on by scoring 2 more TD's in a strong 3rd quarter. The Aggies scored 2 late TD's to make the score more respectable but never threatened the upset. Both teams were evenly matched but Ole Miss turned around a 17-10 deficit at the start of the 4th quarter with 2 unanswered TD's to take the lead, then sealed the win with an end-zone interception with 37 seconds left. 04/10/14 - Utah (30) @ (28) UCLA - In a big upset in Pasadena, unranked Utah upset #8 ranked UCLA for their 1st ever win in Los Angeles. The Utes controlled the 1st half and took a 24-14 lead in at the half. Despite a spirited fight-back by the Bruins, the Utes held on to take the win. UCLA had 2 chances to win the game on the final play, but a 55 yard FG missed and then when a "running-into-the-kicker" penalty was called, UCLA attempted and missed a 50 yard FG. 02/01/15 - Armed Forces Bowl - Houston (35) v (34) Pittsburgh - In a sensational comeback, Houston erased a 26 point deficit in the 4th quarter to win their 2nd Armed Forces Bowl. Pittsburgh dominated the first 3 quarters and held a 31-6 lead early in the 4th quarter and a 34-13 lead with 6:14 to go. But the Cougars suddenly found some Offense and momentum, recovering 2 onside kicks and scoring the final 22 points of the game including the game-winning TD and 2 point play with 59 seconds left to take the win. 04/01/15 - GoDaddy Bowl - Toledo (63) v (44) Arkansas State - In a shootout in Mobile, Toledo held off Arkansas State thanks to big game from star RB Kareem Hunt. The Rockets built a 35-17 lead at the half and, despite a fight-back by the Red Wolves in the 2nd half, the Rockets held on to win. The star for Toledo was RB Kareem Hunt (32-271-5) who set a GoDaddy bowl yardage record. Toledo also featured QB Logan Woodside (21-27-176-0) and WR Alex Zmolik (6-47-0). College Football Playoff National Championship - Oregon (20) v (42) Ohio State - Ohio State won their 7th National Championship and the 1st ever College Football Playoff National Championship with a big win against the Ducks. The Buckeyes Defense shut-down the Ducks high-powered Offense while the Buckeyes run game, led by MVP RB Ezekiel Elliott (36-246-4), controlled the clock and the scoreboard. Ohio State led 21-10 at the half and closed out the game with the final 21 points of the 2nd half to take the win.
