20/04/13 - Texas Tech Defense (34) v (28) Texas Tech Offense - New Head Football Coach Kliff Kingsbury took charge of his 1st Spring Game in front of a record crowd of 16,000 fans and saw his fired-up team put on a show. The Defense came out on top thanks to a scoring system that rewarded turnovers, sacks and stops but the Offense put on a good show too. The Offense was led by QB's Michael Brewer (26-43-282-2) and Davis Webb (17-30-224-1 inc. an 83 yard TD pass) and WR Jace Amaro (11-80-1) but were missing RB's Bradley Marquez and DeAndre Washington + WR Eric Ward. 29/08/13 - Mississippi (39) @ (35) Vanderbilt - In the season opener for both teams, Ole Miss stunned Vandy with a late TD to take the win. In a back-and-forth game, Vanderbilt held a 35-32 lead with 2 minutes left and with the Rebels on their own 25 yard line. But Rebels RB Jeff Scott (12-138-1) stunned the home crowd with a 75 yard TD run to win the game for the visitors. Mississippi were led by QB Bo Wallace (31-47-283-0 + 18-48-2) and also featured WR Laquon Treadwell (9-82-0) and LB Robert Nkemdiche. 30/08/13 - Texas Tech (41) @ (23) SMU - On a record-setting day in Dallas, Texas Tech overcame the home-town Mustangs. Tech were led by walk-on true Freshman QB Baker Mayfield (43-60-413-4 + 12-16-1) in his 1st ever college game. Mayfield became the 1st ever walk-on true Freshman QB to start the 1st game of a season for any BCS school. After a slow 1st half that ended with Tech leading 13-9, Mayfield and the Offense took over, outscoring SMU 28-7 before allowing a late SMU score. Mayfield was helped by WR's Eric Ward (13-150-0) and Jordan Davis (5-70-1). 11 different Tech WR's caught a pass. 31/08/13 - Eastern Washington (49) @ (46) Oregon State - In a shootout in Corvallis, it was the FCS school from Eastern Washington that ran out winners, upsetting the Beavers with a big game from their QB. The Eagles led 29-17 at the half and despite a 3rd quarter comeback by the Beavers, the Eagles hung around and took a game-winning lead with 18 seconds left to record their 1st ever win over a PAC-12 school. 31/08/13 - Georgia (35) @ (38) Clemson - #8 Clemson put down a marker for the season with a big win at home over #5 ranked Georgia. Both teams were on fire in the 1st half and both teams were tied at 21-21 at the half. Clemson asserted their authority in the 2nd half and took a 10 point in the 4th quarter they defended to the end. Clemson were led by a big game from QB Tajh Boyd (18-30-270-3 + 13-42-2) and also featured RB Roderick McDowell (22-132-0) and WR Sammy Watkins (6-127-1 inc. 77 yard TD catch). Miami rode a strong 1st quarter performance to lead 14-6 at the half then kept the Gators at bay the rest of the way to take the win. 14/09/13 - Alabama (49) @ (42) Texas A&M - #1 ranked Alabama gained revenge for their loss to A&M in 2012 with a shootout win in College Station. Led by QB AJ McCarron (20-29-334-4) the Tide overcame an early 14-0 deficit to score 35 unanswered points to take an insurmountable lead and the win. But Bulldogs QB Derek Carr (39-60-460-4) calmly guided the 'Dogs to the game-winning score with 2 minutes left, which the Defense defended to the end. 21/09/13 - San Jose State (24) @ (43) Minnesota - Minnesota improved their record to 4-0 with a strong win over the Spartans. In a contrast of styles, the Gophers used a strong running game to hold off a big passing game from San Jose State. Minnesota broke open a tight 20-17 game at half-time by out-scoring the Spartans 23-7 in the 2nd half. 21/09/13 - Texas State (7) @ (33) Texas Tech - Texas Tech continued their unbeaten start to the season with a big Defensive effort at home. The Red Raiders held a 13-0 lead at the half and, despite giving up a 49 yard TD run at the start of the 3rd quarter, they scored the final 20 points of the game to take the win. USC actually led 21-20 early in the 2nd half, but Arizona State scored 28 unanswered points in the 3rd quarter to pull away and take the win. SMU twice rallied from 21 point deficits and forced overtime with a TD and spectacular 2 point conversion with under 2 minutes to play. 18/10/13 - Central Florida (38) @ (35) Louisville - In a big upset in the American Athletic Conference, unranked UCF ended #8 ranked Louisville's National Title hopes with a huge comeback win. The Cardinals, led by QB Teddy Bridgewater (29-38-341-2), took a 28-7 lead in the 3rd quarter before UCF scored 24 unanswered points to take a 31-28 lead in the 4th quarter. Louisville re-took the lead with 3 minutes left but UCF sealed the upset with the game-winning TD pass with 27 seconds left. 19/10/13 - Indiana (47) @ (63) Michigan - On a record-setting day in Ann Arbor, #18 ranked Michigan survived a shootout with Indiana to move to 6-1 on the season. Michigan QB Devin Gardner (21-29-503-2 + 15-81-3) had a huge game, setting a school single-game record for passing yards and total Offense. Michigan WR Jeremy Gallon (14-369-2) also set a school and Big-10 single-game receiving yards record. Michigan had the better of the 1st half, going in at the break with a 28-17 lead, but Indiana fought back to only trail 49-47 in the 4th quarter.
