30/08/12 - Washington State (6) @ (30) BYU - The season opener for both teams was expected to be a shootout, but only BYU turned up offensively. BYU put up 427 yards of Offense compared to 224 for Wazzu, posting a 24-6 lead at the half and then coasted home in the 2nd half. BYU were led by QB Riley Nelson (26-37-296-2) and WR Kaneakua Friel (6-101-2). Washington State were led by QB Jeff Tuel (30-45-229-0) but he was let down by a rush attack that produced minus 5 yards rushing. 01/09/12 - Notre Dame (50) v (10) Navy - In the season opener for both teams, Navy and Notre Dame travelled to Dublin in Ireland. The Irish dominated the Midshipmen, running out to a 27-3 lead at the half then coasted home. The stars for the Irish were QB Everett Golson (12-18-144-1), in his 1st career start, and RB's Theo Riddick (19-107-2) and George Atkinson (9-99-2). The Irish defense also did their bit, forcing 4 turnovers and 3 sacks and also scored on a 77 yard fumble return. 01/09/12 - Northwestern (42) @ (41) Syracuse - In a shootout at the Carrier Dome, Northwestern opened their season with a road win after surviving a 2nd half comeback from the Orange. The Wildcats led 35-13 in the 3rd quarter before Syracuse scored 4 unanswered TD's to take a 41-35 lead with 3:40 left. Northwestern then clinched the win by driving 75 yards to the game-winning TD with 58 seconds left. The stars for Northwestern were QB's Kain Colter (14-21-135-2 + 14-40-1) and Trevor Siemian (8-11-78-1), RB Venric Mark (203 all-purpose yards) and WR Demetrius Fields (8-83-1). 01/09/12 - Clemson (26) v (19) Auburn - In the season opener for both teams at the Georgia Dome, it was the Tigers of Clemson that came away with the win. Both teams were evenly matched but Clemson scored the last 10 points of the game to put away Auburn and take the win. Clemson were led by RB Andre Ellington (26-231-0) and also featured QB Tajh Boyd (24-34-208-1) but were missing WR Sammy Watkins to suspension. 01/09/12 - Alabama (41) v (14) Michigan - At the new Cowboys Stadium, #2 Alabama showed they were a title contender with a huge win over #8 Michigan. Alabama took control early, opening up a 31-7 lead at the half and kept the Wolverines at bay for the rest of the game. The stars on Offense for Alabama were QB AJ McCarron (11-26-200-1) and RB TJ Yeldon (11-111-1) while the Defense, led by LB Trey DePriest and DB Dee Miliner, held Michigan to 69 yards rushing, forced 3 turnovers and 1 sack and scored on a 16 yard interception return. Michigan were led by QB Denard Robinson (11-26-200-1 + 10-27-1) and WR Jeremy Gallon (4-107-0) but were missing leading rusher Fitzgerald Toussaint to suspension (10, 2 Discs, ABC - Musberger/Herbstreit, PAL)

01/09/12 - Northwestern State (6) @ (44) Texas Tech - On a day when Texas Tech honoured past greats, the Red Raiders opened their season with a comfortable win against the Demons. Texas Tech opened their Ring of Honour with EJ Holub, Donny Anderson and Dave Parks remembered and the Offense put on a display that the Golden Palomino would have appreciated while the Defense shut down the Demons Offense in a display that Holub would have approved of. QB Seth Doege (23-34-199-1) and RB Eric Stephens (16-58-2) did the damage while the Defense held Northwestern State to only 84 yards of total Offense and had 3 sacks. The game also saw the college debut of Texas Tech QB Michael Brewer (10-13-122-2). 07/09/12 - Utah (20) @ (27) Utah State - The Aggies claimed their 1st win against their big in-state rivals since 1997 with an overtime win in Logan. The Aggies led 13-0 at the end of the 1st quarter but Utah fought back to tie the game at 20-20 with 3 minutes remaining which set up Overtime. The Aggies scored on their possession then held the Utes on 4th down to take the win. Utah State were led by QB Chuckie Keeton (22-32-216-2 + 17-86-0), RB Kerwynn Williams (17-95-1) and LB Bojay Filimoeatu (12 tackles). Utah were led by QB Jordan Wynn  (6-11-47-0) before he left the game injured in the 2nd quarter, and RB John White (27-96-0). 08/09/12 - Louisiana-Monroe (34) @ (31) Arkansas - In a big upset, #8 ranked Arkansas lost to un-ranked Louisiana-Monroe in overtime. The Warhawks overturned a 28-7 deficit in the 3rd quarter by scoring 21 unanswered points to force overtime, with the game-tieing TD coming with only 55 seconds left in the game. The Warhawks held the Razorbacks to a FG then took the win with a TD run of their own. The star for Louisiana-Monroe was QB Kolton Browning (42-67-412-3 + 16-69-1) and he was supported by RB Jyruss Edwards (15-36-1) and WR's Brent Leonard (11-112-1) and Tavarese Maye (9-76-0). 08/09/12 - Florida (20) @ (17) Texas A&M - Texas A&M started life in the SEC with a home game against the Gators, but it was Florida that took the win with a strong 2nd half. But the Gators took control in the 2nd half by scoring 10 unanswered points, led by QB Jeff Driskel (13-16-162-0) and RB Mike Gillislee (14-83-2), to take the win. 08/09/12 - Texas Tech (58) @ (10) Texas State - Texas Tech ruined the party for the opening of the newly expanded Texas State stadium, using a big 1st half to finish off the Bobcats. Texas Tech led 21-0 after the 1st quarter and 38-10 at the half and held the Bobcats scoreless in the 2nd half to stay unbeaten on the season. 08/09/12 - Houston (49) @ (56) Louisiana Tech - In a shootout in Houston, Louisiana Tech took the win but only after a Houston comeback fell just short. The Bulldogs led all the way, led by QB Colby Cameron (34-52-353-3) and RB Tevin King (13-112-3), but Houston pulled to within 7 points with 35 seconds left, only for an on-side kick to fail which let the Bulldogs run out the clock to take the win. Houston were led by QB David Piland (53-77-580-4) who had a huge game, setting a team record for passing attempts in a game. 13/09/12 - Rutgers (23) @ (13) South Florida - Rutgers opened their Big East schedule with a strong win over the Bulls. Led by RB Jawan Jamison (41-151-1) and QB Gary Nova (23-42-277-1) the Scarlet Knights overturned a 6-3 deficit at the half to out-score the Bulls 20-7 in the 2nd half and take the win. The 41 rushing attempts by Jamison set a school single-game record. 14/09/12 - Washington State (35) @ (27) UNLV - In a shootout in Las Vegas, Washington State held off a late Rebels fightback to take the win. Both teams QB's had big games with Wazzu's Connor Halliday (26-45-378-4) and UNLV's Nick Sherry (33-49-351-3) on fire, but the game was decided by a key defensive stop late in the game as UNLV pushed for the tieing score. Both teams traded big scores in the 2nd quarter with the Cougars scoring on 52 and 81 yard TD passes and UNLV scoring on a 75 yard TD pass. 15/09/12 - Florida (37) @ (20) Tennessee - #18 ranked Florida continued their unbeaten start to the season with a huge win over their big rivals Tennessee. The Volunteers led 17-10 at the half but the Gators defense shut down the Vols passing attack in the 2nd half and used big plays on Offense to take the win. The Gators scored on an 80 yard run and a 75 yard TD pass in the 2nd half, out-scoring the Vols 27-6 over the final 2 quarters. Florida were led by QB Jeff Driskel (14-20-219-2) and RB's Mike Gillislee (18-115-0) and Trey Burton (3-91-2). 15/09/12 - New Mexico (14) @ (49) Texas Tech - Texas Tech dominated the Lobos in Lubbock with a balanced Offense that produced 702 total yards. Led by QB Seth Doege (27-35-340-6) the Red Raiders used a 28 point 2nd quarter to open up a 42-14 lead at the half and they coasted home by keeping the Lobos scoreless in the 2nd half. 15/09/12 - USC (14) @ (21) Stanford - For the 4th year in a row, the Cardinal beat the Trojans, ending #2 ranked USC's perfect start to the season. USC led 14-7 at the half, led by QB Matt Barkley (20-41-254-0) and RB Silas Redd (13-17-2) but the Stanford defense stood up in the 2nd half, keeping USC scoreless and forcing 3 turnovers. Stanford's offense also found it's rhythm, led by QB Josh Nunes (15-32-215-2) and RB Stepfan Taylor (27-153-1), and they did just enough to win the game. 21/09/12 - Baylor (47) @ (42) Lousiana-Monroe - In front of a record crowd at Malone Stadium in Monroe, Baylor overcame a slow start to beat the Warhawks. Lousiana-Monroe, led by QB's Kolton Browning (25-39-272-2 + 13-49-1) and Cody Wells (3-3-26-0) posted a 14-0 lead at the end of the 1st quarter, but Baylor, led by QB Nick Florence (26-39-351-4), responded to lead 24-21 at the half. Both teams were even the rest of the way but Baylor held on in the 4th quarter to take the win. The Warhawks also featured RB Jyruss Edwards (21-120-1). 22/09/12 - New Hampshire (61) @ (64) Old Domninion - On a record-setting day in Norfolk, Virginia, Old Dominion battled back from a 20 point deficit to beat the Wildcats. New Hampshire led 37-17 late in the 2nd quarter and 40-24 at the half thanks to a huge game from QB Andy Vailas (23-38-336-5 + 14-109-1), but the Monarchs fought back to out-score the Wildcats 40-21 in the 2nd half, taking the lead for the 1st time with a FG with 41 seconds left. 22/09/12 - Clemson (37) @ (49) Florida State - In the battle for top spot in the ACC, it was the #4 ranked Seminoles that took the win with a big 2nd half to beat the #10 ranked Tigers. Both teams were on fire in the 1st half, with Clemson holding a 21-14 lead at the break. But Florida State shut-down the Tigers in the 2nd half en-route to out-scoring Clemson 35-16 to take the win. 29/09/12 - Tennessee (44) @ (51) Georgia - In a shootout at Sanford Stadium, #5 ranked Georgia kept their unbeaten start to the season with a big win against the Vols. The Bulldogs started fast, jumping out to a 27-10 lead in the 2nd quarter but Tennessee fought back and levelled the game 30-30 at the half. The Dogs owned the 3rd quarter, out-scoring the Vols 21-7, to take an unassailable lead which they defended until the end. Georgia were led by QB Aaron Murray (20-26-286-2) but the stars on Offense were the Freshman RB's Keith Marshall (10-164-2) and Todd Gurley (24-130-3). The Cougars played the Ducks even in the 1st half and only trailed 23-19 at the break. But Oregon scored the next 28 points to break open the game and take the win. 29/09/12 - North Carolina State (37) @ (44) Miami - In a shootout in Miami, the Hurricanes sensationally beat the Wolfpack with a last minute TD pass, with Hurricane QB Stephen Morris (26-49-566-5) the hero. Miami started fast and held a 23-7 lead after the 1st quarter and a 30-21 lead after 3 quarters but the Wolfpack rallied on the arm of QB Mike Glennon (24-42-440-4) to tie the game with 2 minutes left. Miami had 1 final shot to set up a winning FG, but Morris instead found WR Phillip Dorsett (7-191-2) for a 62 yard TD with 30 seconds left that the Defense held on to for the win. Miami also featured RB Duke Johnson (12-39-1) and WR Rayshawn Scott (6-180-2). NC State also featured RB Tony Creecy (19-120-1) and WR Tobias Palmer (5-94-0) but were let down by 6 turnovers. 29/09/12 - Texas Tech (24) @ (13) Iowa State - Texas Tech kept their unbeaten start to the season with a good all-around game against the Cyclones in Ames. Led by QB Seth Doege (30-46-331-3) the Red Raiders scored the last 17 points of the game to break open a tight 7-7 game at the half. The Texas Tech Defense, led by DL Kerry Hyder (5 tackles, 2 sacks, 1 fumble recovery) and DB Cody Davis (5 tackles, 1 interception), held Iowa State to only 189 yards of total Offense, including only 73 yards passing, while forcing 4 turnovers. 04/10/12 - USC (38) @ (28) Utah - #13 ranked USC celebrated their 1st visit to Utah for 95 years with a comeback win. Utah took a 21-10 lead in the 2nd quarter before USC scored 28 unanswered points to take control of the game and the victory. 06/10/12 - Navy (28) @ (21) Air Force - Navy took the initiative in the race for the CIC trophy with an Overtime win in Colorado Springs. Both teams were evenly matched throughout the game but Air Force suffered from turnovers at inopportune times which allowed Navy to stay in the game. Once into Overtime, Navy scored 1st on a recovered fumble in the end-zone and then the Defense sealed the win with a 4th down stop. Navy were led by QB's Trey Miller (3-3-19-0 + 18-110-0) and Keenan Reynolds (3-3-55-0 + 3-22-1), RB Noah Copeland (21-84-1) and LB Matt Warrick (11 tackles).
