02/09/11 - TCU (48) @ (50) Baylor - Baylor used a big game from their star QB to upset #14 ranked TCU and end their 25 game regular season win streak. Bears QB Robert Griffin (21-27-359-5 + 10-33-0 + 1 catch for 15 yards) had a huge game but the Bears still needed a FG with 1:04 left in the game to take the win. TCU started a new QB for the 1st time in 4 years, and Casey Pachall (25-39-251-4) didn't disappoint, but he was let down by a Defense that gave up 564 yards of total Offense to Baylor (10, 2 Discs, ESPN - Tessitore/Gilmore, PAL)
03/09/11 - Utah State (38) @ (42) Auburn - Utah State out-played the reigning National Champions but Auburn used 2 TD's in the final 2 minutes to steal the win from the Aggies. Led by freshman quarterback Chuckie Keeton (21-30-213-0 + 8-30-2) the Aggies led 38-28 with 4 minutes left when Auburn QB Barrett Trotter (17-23-261-3) and RB Michael Dyer (14-56-2) took control and brought the Tigers back to take the win. The Aggies out-gained the Tigers on Offense 448 yards to 364 yards, held the ball for 39 minutes and out-rushed the Tigers 227 yards to 78 yards (10, 2 Discs, ESPN - Mowins/Bellotti, PAL)
03/09/11 - Boise State (35) v (21) Georgia - #5 ranked Boise State once again showed they were for real, as they visited Georgia at the Georgia Dome and left with a win. Led by QB Kellen Moore (28-34-261-3) and a strong running game led by RB's DJ Harper (8-44-1) and Doug Martin (24-43-1), the Broncos ran out to a 28-7 lead in the 3rd quarter and cruised home. 03/09/11 - LSU (40) v (27) Oregon - In a game played at the new Cowboys Stadium in Texas, #4 ranked LSU shocked #3 ranked Oregon on the opening day of the season. LSU forced 4 turnovers (3 fumbles + 1 interception) and cashed them in for 20 points as the Tigers overturned an early 13-9 deficit with 24 unanswered points in the middle portion of the game. The Tigers were led by QB Jarrett Lee (10-22-98-), starting in place of the suspended Jordan Jefferson, but he relied heavily on a strong rushing attack led by RB's Spencer Ware (26-97-1) and Michael Ford (14-94-2) + a defense that held Heisman hopeful Oregon RB LaMichael James (18-51-1 + 6-61-0) and QB Darron Thomas (31-54-240-1 + 2-12-0) in check. 03/09/11 - San Jose State (3) @ (57) Stanford - #7 ranked Stanford opened their season with a big win against their Bay-area neighbours. Led by QB Andrew Luck (17-26-171-2) the Cardinal led 27-3 at the half and coasted home in the 2nd half, with the defense keeping San Jose State scoreless. Stanford also featured RB Stepfan Taylor (18-53-2), WR Chris Owusu (7-76-0) and defense led by LB Shayne Skov (7 tackles) that held the Spartans to only 27 yards rushing. 03/09/11 - South Florida (23) @ (20) Notre Dame - South Florida started their season with a bang, upsetting the #16 ranked Irish in a storm-affected game in South Bend. The Bulls forced 5 turnovers, 3 inside the Bulls 10 yard line, and survived over 3 hours of stoppages to hold off the Irish. The Bulls jumped out to 16-0 lead at the half, helped by a 97 yard fumble return TD, then held off a 4th quarter rally by Notre Dame to take the win. The Bulls were led on Offense by QB BJ Daniels (18-30-128-1) and on Defense by DB's Jon Lejiste (10 tackles) and Jerell Young (7 tackles, 1 forced fumble, 1 interception). 09/09/11 - Florida International (24) @ (17) Louisville - FIU registered their 1st ever win against a team from a BCS conference, and had their star player to thank for the result. Led by WR T.Y. Hilton (7-201-2 with TD catches of 74 and 83 yards) the Panthers never trailed in the game but had to withstand a 4th quarter comeback by the Cardinals to take the win. The Panthers also featured QB Wesley Carroll (14-21-248-2) and a defense that forced 5 sacks, 2 turnovers and also had a 71 yard interception retrurn for a TD. 09/09/11 - Missouri (30) @ (37) Arizona State - On a charged night in Tempe, the Sun Devils upset #21 ranked Missouri in overtime. Led by QB Brock Osweiler (24-32-353-3), Arizona State ran out to a 30-16 lead in the 3rd quarter, only to watch as Missouri, led by QB James Franklin (26-42-319-2), fought back to tie the game and force overtime. The Sun Devils Offense opened the scoring and then their defense held the Tigers at bay in the extra period to take the win. The Sun Devils also featured RB Cameron Marshall (22-57-0) and WR Aaron Pflugrad (8-180-2). Missouri also featured RB Henry Josey (9-94-0) and WR Marcus Lucas (4-87-0). 16/09/11 - Boise State (40) @ (15) Toldeo - #4 ranked Boise State showed they were for real as they dominated Toledo in the Glass Bowl. Led by QB Kellen Moore (32-42-455-5) the Broncos raced to a 20-9 lead at the half and coasted home. Moore was also helped by RB Doug Martin (19-70-0 + 5-122-1 inc. a 71 yard TD catch) who had a huge game both rushing and receiving. 17/09/11 - South Carolina (45) @ (42) Georgia - #12 ranked South Carolina took the early initiative in the race for the SEC East title with a high-scoring win in Athens. After a slow 1st half that South Carolina led 14-13 at the break, both teams combined for 39 points in the 4th quarter with the Gamecocks scoring 2 TD's in a 7 second span to take a decisive lead and the win. The Gamecocks scored on Offense, Defense (25 yard interception return TD + 5 yard fumble return TD) and Special Teams (68 yard TD run off a fake punt) in a great all-around team effort. Notre Dame held a 24-7 lead at the start of the 4th quarter led by a big game from QB Tommy Rees (27-39-315-3) and RB Cierre Wood (25-127-1). But Michigan stormed back with 3 unanswered TD's to take the lead. The Cougars held a 13-3 lead at the half, led by QB Jake Heaps (22-38-192-1), before Texas regrouped and used a strong running game to take control of the game and out-score BYU 14-3 to take the win. Texas started with QB Garrett Gilbert (2-8-8-0) but he was replaced in the 2nd quarter by a QB rotation of David Ash (2-3-35-0) and Case McCoy (7-8-57-0) and, with the help of RB's Malcolm Brown (14-65-0) and Cody Johnson (5-12-2), they turned the game around. 17/09/11 - Oklahoma (23) @ (13) Florida State - #1 ranked Oklahoma silenced a record crowd (84,392) at Doak Campbell stadium with a tight road win. Both teams were evenly matched but when the Seminoles lost QB EJ Manuel (13-19-85-0 + 8-49-0) to injury for the final 20 minutes, the tide turned in the Sooners favour. Led by QB Landry Jones (18-27-199-1) the Sooners scored the go-ahead TD in the 4th quarter and held off Seminoles back-up QB Clint Trickett (7-15-134-1 inc. a 56 yard TD pass) to take the win. 17/09/11 - Pittsburgh (27) @ (31) Iowa - Iowa finally got there season back on track with a sensational 4th quarter comeback, the biggest in Iowa history. The Panthers led 27-10 in the 4th quarter, thanks to a big game from QB Tino Sunseri (23-33-255-2) and RB Ray Graham (22-97-0), but Iowa QB James Vandenburg (31-48-399-3) suddenly found his rhythm and brought the Hawkeyes back with 3 TD passes with the winning score coming with 2:51 left. Vandenburg also had support from RB Marcus Coker (23-86-0) and a defense that forced a turnover on downs + 2 punts + 1 interception on the Panthers final 4 drives of the game to seal the win. 24/09/11 - Toledo (30) @ (33) Syracuse - Syracuse kept their strong start to the season going with a big win over upset-minded Toledo but neeeded a controversial call from the officials to do so. Both teams were evenly matched throughout the game, with Toledo QB Austin Dantin (22-32-258-1) and Syracuse QB Ryan Nassib (16-24-213-2) calmly leading their teams. But with 2:07 left in the 4th quarter, after Syracuse scored to take a 29-27 lead, the Orange missed the PAT which would have allowed Toledo to drive to a game-winning FG. But the officials ruled the kick good, a ruling incorrectly backed up by replay. Toledo did kick a FG on the last play of regulation to force overtime but Syracuse held on in the extra-period to take the win. 24/09/11 - Oklahoma State (30) @ (29) Texas A&M - In a game of 2 halves, the #5 ranked Cowboys ended up on top, overcoming a 20-3 defict at the half to win the game. The #14 ranked Aggies started fast, led by QB Ryan Tannehill (28-47-309-2 + 7-69-1), but the 2nd half belonged to the Cowboys, as QB Brandon Weeden (47-60-438-2) took control. The Mountaineers got a career day from QB Geno Smith (38-65-463-2) as he set school records for attempts, completions and yards, but he wasn't helped by a poor rushing game and the 4 turnovers committed. 24/09/11 - Nevada (34) @ (35) Texas Tech - In a shooutout in Lubbock, Texas Tech used a late TD to get past the upset-minded Wolfpack. Led by QB's Cody Fajardo (4-6-59-1 + 10-139-2) and Tyler Lantrip (11-18-191-1), Nevada ran out to a 21-7 lead early in the 3rd quarter before the Red Raiders re-grouped and pulled themselves back into the game. 01/10/11 - Texas Tech (45) @ (34) Kansas - Texas Tech upset Homecoming for the Jayhawks as they put in a complete game to turn around an early deficit to win the game. Kansas jumped out to an early 20-0 lead led by QB Jordan Webb (16-22-239-2) and RB Brandon Bourbon (10-101-1) before Tech settled down and out-scored the Jayhawks 45-14 the rest of the game to take the win. 01/10/11 - Arizona (41) @ (48) USC - In a shootout at the Coliseum, USC finally came out on top after holding off a furious Arizona rally. Led by QB Matt Barkley (32-39-468-4) and WR Robert Woods (14-255-2), the Trojans raced out to a 24-6 lead in the 1st half before the Wildcats rallied behind the play of QB Nick Foles (41-53-425-4). But ultimately the Trojans had too much for the Wildcats and after Arizona had pulled to within a TD with 1:29 left, USC recovered the onside kick and ran out the clock. 01/10/11 - SMU (40) @ (33) TCU - For the first time since 2005, SMU won local bragging rights and the "Iron Skillet" trophy with a tight overtime win in Forth Worth. Led by QB JJ McDermott (23-45-349-4) the Mustangs took a 24-10 lead into the 4th quarter and looked in control. But #20 ranked TCU, led by QB Casey Pachall (30-42-304-3 + 8-18-0), reeled off 23 points to force overtime. SMU regrouped in the extra-period, though, and took the win. SMU also featured RB Zach Line (21-121-0) and WR Darius Johnson (12-152-2). TCU also featured RB Ed Wesley (11-97-0), WR Josh Boyce (7-94-1) and DL Stansl Maponga (7 tackles, 2 sacks). 01/10/11 - Texas A&M (38) v (42) Arkansas - In a game of 2 halves at Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, the Razorbacks fought back from an 18 point deficit at the half to beat the Aggies. Texas A&M led 35-17 at the half thanks to a strong ground game led by QB Ryan Tannehill (25-35-247-0 + 5-56-0) and RB's Christine Michael (32-230-3) and Cyrus Gray (17-95-2). But Arkansas regrouped after the break and out-scored the Aggies 25-3 to take the win. The Razorbacks were led by QB Tyler Wilson (30-51-510-2) and WR Jarius Wright (13-281-1). 01/10/11 - Nebraska (17) @ (48) Wisconsin - #7 ranked Wisconsin welcomed the #8 ranked Cornhuskers to the Big 10 with a dominating win in Madison. Nebraska's 1st game in the Big 10 didn't go as planned as the Badgers racked up 231 yards rushing, led by RB Montee Ball (30-151-4), while Badgers QB Russell Wilson (14-20-255-2 + 6-32-1) controlled the game with his arm and his feet. 01/10/11 - Air Force (35) @ (34) Navy - The Air Force Academy took pole position in the race for the Commander-in-Chief trophy with a huge overtime win against Navy. The Falcons raced out to a 21-3 lead at the half, led by QB Tim Jefferson (9-10-136-1 + 18-60-2), but Navy came roaring back, led by QB Kriss Proctor (14-24-132-1 + 17-134-2), and tied the game and forced overtime with a TD and 2 point conversion with 24 seconds left in the game. Navy scored 1st but a taunting penalty forced a longer than normal PAT which was blocked. The Air Force also scored and kicked the PAT for the big win. 06/10/11 - California (15) @ (43) Oregon - #9 ranked Oregon gained a measure of revenge for their game against the Bears in 2010 with a dominating win in the rain in Eugene. The Bears actually led 15-14 at the half but the Ducks scored 29 unanswered points in the 2nd half to take the win. The Ducks were led by RB LaMichael James (30-239-1) and QB Darron Thomas (13-25-198-3). The Bears were led by QB Zach Maynard (20-41-218-1), RB Isi Sofele (12-119-0) and WR Keenan Allen (9-170-1). 08/10/11 - Florida (11) @ (41) LSU - #1 ranked LSU showed they were worthy of the top spot with a dominating win over an under-manned Florida team. LSU, led by QB Jarret Lee (7-10-154-1) and RB Spencer Ware (24-109-2), raced out to a 24-3 lead at the half and coasted home. The Defense also chipped in with 2 interceptions and held the Gators to only 213 yards of Total Offense. #17 ranked Florida were led by the 3rd string QB, Jacoby Brissett (8-14-94-1), after injuries to the other 2 players in front of him, and also featured RB Chris Rainey (13-52-0). The Buckeyes raced out to a 27-6 lead in the 3rd quarter thanks to a big game from Freshman QB Braxton Miller (5-8-95-1 + 10-91-0), but the game turned after he left in the 3rd quarter due to injury. Nebraska found new life and behind the play of QB Taylor Martinez (16-22-191-2 + 17-102-1) and RB Rex Burkhead (26-119-1), the Cornhuskers scored 28 unanswered points to take the win, the biggest ever comeback in school history. 14/10/11 - Hawaii (27) @ (28) San Jose State - For the 1st time since 1997, the Spartans managed to beat the Warriors at Spartan Stadium but needed a dramatic 4th quarter to take the win.
