- In the 1st ever ACC meeting between the 2 rivals, Miami fought back from a 10-0 4th quarter deficit to force overtime where RB Frank Gore won it for the Hurricanes. Florida State QB Chris Rix made history as the only starting QB to loose to the same team 5 times. 10/09/04 - Oregon State (34) @ (53) Boise State - Boise State finally won their 1st game against the PAC-10 but needed to rally from a 14 point deficit to do so. Led by QB Derek Anderson (22-42-411-4) and WR Mike Haas (12-293-3) the Beavers took an early 14-0 lead but the Broncos suddenly found their rhythm and reeled off 34 unanswered points to take control of the game. Led by QB Jared Zabransky (20-34-225-3 + 14-73-1) and a rushing attack that amassed 246 total yards, the Broncos kept the Beavers at bay during the 2nd half and took the win. 11/09/04 - Texas Tech (24) @ (27) New Mexico - New Mexico finally ended a 20 year losing streak to Texas Tech, beating the Red Raiders on a last play FG. Both teams were tied 21-21 at the half with the Red Raiders unable to shake off the Lobos. The same pattern held for the 2nd half and, with the game tied at 24-24 late in the game, the Lobos drove 26 yards in the final 1:58 to set up a 43 game-winning FG by Mike Zunker that he nailed to send the home fans home happy. New Mexico were led by QB Kole McKamey (12-24-173-1 + 10-56-2), RB Dontrell Moore (20-83-0) and WR Hank Baskett (6-99-2). - In a game of big plays and momentum shifts, Boise State recovered from an early 10-0 deficit to stay unbeaten. UTEP QB Jordan Palmer (16-32-235-2) threw a 70 yard TD pass on the 1st drive of the game but Boise State QB Jared Zabransky (26-37-392-2) responded with 2 TD passes. - Tennessee kicker James Wilhoit made up for a missed extra point to win the game on a 50 yard FG with 6 secs left. The kick was set up by a personal foul call on Florida WR Dallas Baker. Sophomore Florida QB Chris Leak (22-31-286-3) and Freshman Tennessee QB Eric Ainge (16-24-192-3) had good games. - Rice secured their 2-0 start to the season with a big win over Hawaii. The Owls rushed for 405 yards with little-used FB Ed Bailey (37-234-1) the main weapon. - Stanford used all the tricks in the book to take an 11 point lead on the #1 ranked Trojans at the half. They scored on a fake FG and on an 82 yard TD run on the last play of the half. But it wasn't enough as RB Reggie Bush (16-95-1) and QB Matt Leinart (23-30-284-1) brought USC back and the defense kept out the Cardinal in the 2nd half. Ohio State (27) @ (33) Northwestern
- Northwestern beat Ohio State in overtime for it's 1st win against the Buckeyes since 1971. Ohio State rallied from a 10 point 4th quarter deficit to force overtime on a 21 yard TD pass from Justin Zwick to Santonio Holmes. But usually infallible kicker Mike Nugent missed a 40 yard FG to leave the foot open for the Wildcats to win on a 1 yard run by Noah Herron. Purdue (41) @ (16) Notre Dame
- Purdue finally beat Notre Dame in South Bend, ending a 30 year drought. The hero was QB Kyle Orton (21-31-385-4) who had a big game including a 97 yard TD pass to Taylor Stubblefield. Notre Dame were led by QB Brady Quinn (26-46-432-1) whose passing yards were a Notre Dame record at home (10, 1 Disc, NBC - Hammond/Haden/Johnson, PAL)

Nebraska (10) @ (70) Texas Tech
- Texas Tech handed Nebraska their worst ever loss as Tech QB Sonny Cumbie (44-56-452-5) threw for a record number of TD passed against the Cornhuskers. Tech scored 49 points in the 2nd half (9, 2 Discs, TBS - Thulin/Davis, PAL)

Tennessee (19) @ (14) Georgia
- The Volunteers upset the #3 Bulldogs. Freshman QB Eric Ainge (12-21-150-2) had a sensational game in guiding the Vols but Georgai QB David Greene (15-34-163-0) had a terrible game. - Stanford almost blew a 17 point 4th quarter lead as WSU QB Josh Swogger (18-36-257-1) rallied his team but the Cardinals held on with a late defensive stand. Florida (31) @ (38) Mississippi State
- The Bulldogs secured their 1st SEC win under new coach Sylvester Croom with a stunning upset. MSU were a 24 pt underdog against the #19 Gators but used a punishing running game (251 total yards) including a big game from RB Jerrious Norwood (29-174-2) to keep close and finally win it on a 37 yard run with 32 seconds left (9, 2 Discs, JP Sports - Neal/Rowe, PAL)

Hawaii (3) @ (69) Boise State
- In what was supposed to be a coronation for Hawaii QB Timmy Chang, Boise State instead spoiled the party with a big win. Chang needed 241 yards passing to overtake BYU QB Ty Detmer as the career passing yards leader but fell 14 yards short as Boise State rushed the ball 50 times for 425 yards to keep the ball away from him. An when he did get the ball, the Broncos defense took it back, forcing 4 interceptions which in itself set a record for career interceptions. Chang finished 26-53-227-0 while his opposite number Jared Zabransky (11-19-164-0 + 10-123-4 inc. 85 yard TD run) had a huge game. - In a huge upset, Baylor upset #17 ranked A&M in overtime. Baylor cameback from a 10 point deficit at the half to tie the game on the arm of QB Shawn Bell (32-50-262-4) and then gambled on won on a 2 point play in overtime. South Florida (45) @ (20) UAB
- South Florida scored 28 points in the 4th quarter to upset UAB. USF TB Andre Hall (29-275-2) took over the game and helped shift momentum from the Blazers as the rain started to fall. USF scored on 3 big plays in the 4th quarter including a 77 yard TD pass, a 39 yard interception return TD and a 63 yard TD run. Louisville (56) @ (49) Memphis
- In a wild shootout that produced nearly 1200 yards of Offense, it was the only turnover of the gam that settled it. Louisville intercepted Memphis QB Danny Wimprine (24-46-361-4) with 20 seconds left to end the final Memphis drive. 06/11/04 - Oklahoma State (35) @ (56) Texas - #7 ranked Texas stunned Oklahoma State by fighting back from a 28 point deficit to win the game. The Cowboys were 35-14 up at the half but Texas shut them out in the 2nd half and rode QB Vince Young (18-21-278-1 + 12-123-1) and RB Cedric Benson (23-141-5) to 42 unanswered points and the win. - In Florida coach Ron Zook's last regular season game, he guided the Gators to a huge upset of #10 Florida State. Toledo (35) v (27) Miami (OH)
- In an unbelievably gutsy performance, Toledo QB Bruce Gradkowski (18-24-251-4) won the MAC Championship while playing with a seperated shoulder & broken hand. The Toledo defense did their bit aswell, intercepting Miami QB Josh Betts twice (9, 2 Discs, ESPN - Tirico/Corso/Herbstreit/Arrington, PAL)

04/12/04 -
USC (29) @ (24) UCLA
- USC ended the season as the #1 ranked team with a closer-than-expected win against it's biggest rivals. USC RB Reggie Bush (15-204-2 + 6-73-0) was the star, accounting for 335 all-purpose yards and TD runs of 65 and 81 yards. USC kicker Ryan Killeen also had a big day, kicking 5 FG's. USC QB Matt Leinart (24-34-242-0) had a steady game but was kept out of the end-zone for the first time in his career by a stingy UCLA defense. UCLA were led by QB Drew Olson (20-34-278-1) who had a good game but he wasn't helped by a running game that managed only 17 yards. Auburn (38) v (28) Tennessee
- #3 Auburn battled against an over-matched Tennessee team. Auburn QB Jason Campbell (27-35-374-3 + 13-63) put in an MVP performance as Auburn finished the regular season with a 12-0 unbeaten record. Bowling Green (52) v (35) Memphis
- In a shootout, the 2 main stars didn't disappoint. Memphis RB DeAngelo Williams (18-120-1) was awesome until he fractured his leg in the 3rd quarter. Bowling Green QB Omar Jacobs (26-44-365-5) kept pace and, after Williams left the game, engineered a game-changing 17 points to win the game. - Wyoming upset UCLA with a 12 yard TD pass from QB Corey Bramlet to John Wadkowski with 57 secs left for their 1st bowl win since 1966. - In the highest scoring Liberty Bowl ever, Louisville turned a 31-21 half-time deficit around to win the game. - In the 1st ever match-up between the 2 teams, Texas outlasted Michigan, winning on a last play 37 yard FG. Michigan WR Steve Breaston set a Rose Bowl record for all-purpose yardage (315 yards) but the real star of the show was Texas QB Vince Young (16-28-183-1 + 21-193-4). 04/01/05 - Orange Bowl -
USC (55) v (19) Oklahoma
- In the battle for the National Championship, #1 USC scored 55 points with only a FG reply by Oklahoma as they crushed the #2 Sooners. In the 1st ever matchup between 2 Heisman Trophy Winners, USC QB Matt Leinart (18-35-330-5) outplayed Oklahoma QB Jason White (24-36-244-3).
