08/09/94 - Nebraska (42) @ (16) Texas Tech - #1 Nebraska showed their National Championship credentials as they run for 524 total yards to put down an upset bid from the Red Raiders. Nebraska only led 14-3 at the half but RB's Lawrence Phillips (19-175-2) and Corey Schlesinger (6-84-0) + QB Tommie Frazier (5-15-0-88-1 + 13-84-2) put up 335 yards rushing in the 2nd half to take the win. 10/09/94 - Michigan (26) @ (24) Notre Dame - Much heralded Irish QB Ron Powlus finally made his home debut against the old enemy, Michigan. Powlus (15-27-187-2) led the Irish to the go ahead TD with 52 seconds left but Michigan QB Todd Collins (21-29-224-1) led a desperate drive to the game winning 42 yard FG by Remy Hamilton with 2 secs left to win the game (9, 2 Discs, NBC - Hammond/Collinsworth/Dockery, NTSC)

17/09/1994 - LSU (26) @ (30) Auburn - In a sensational comeback at Jordan-Hare Stadium, #11 ranked Auburn kept their unbeaten streak alive against LSU. LSU dominated the opening 3 quarters of the game and led 23-9 at the start of the 4th Quarter. But Auburn's Defense rose to the occasion and forced 5 LSU turnovers in the 4th quarter, returning 3 INT's for TD's (42 yards, 32 yards, 41 yards) to win the game. Remarkably, Auburn won the game without scoring an Offensive TD. 20/09/94 - Washington (38) @ (20) Miami - #17 ranked Washington ended #6 ranked Miami's 58 game home winning streak with a big win. Miami led 14-3 at the half but Washington scored 22 points (a 75 yard TD pass, a 32 yard interception return and a fumble recovery in the end-zone) in the opening 4:45 of the 3rd quarter to take control of the game. Washington were led on Offense by QB Damon Huard, RB Napoleon Kaufman and WR's Eric Bjornson and Mark Bruener and on Defense by DB Lawyer Milloy. 24/09/94 - Colorado (27) @ (26) Michigan - In one of the greatest finishes to a college football game ever, #7 ranked Colorado upset #4 ranked Michigan with a last play 64 yard TD pass. Michigan led 26-14 with 5:08 remaining and seemed in control but the Buffaloes scored 2 late TD's, including the game-winning TD pass from QB Kordell Stewart (21-32-294-1 + 20-85-0) to WR Michael Westbrook (7-157-1) as time expired. Colorado also featured RB Rashaan Salaam and LB Ted Johnson. 01/10/1994 - Colorado (34) @ (31) Texas - #5 ranked Colorado continued their unbeaten start to the season with a big road win against #16 ranked Texas. The Buffaloes controlled the 1st half and led 21-10 at the half. But Texas fought back to tie Colorado 31-31 late in the game. The Buffaloes then went on a 73 yard drive in 13 plays before kicking the game-winning field goal with 1 second left. The loss snapped a remarkable streak for Texas, which lost for the first time in its 102-year history when scoring 25 points or more at home. The streak spanned 251 games. Colorado outgained Texas on Offense 506 yards to 320. 01/10/94 - Washington State (9) @ (10) Tennessee - Tennessee inflicted on #15 ranked Washington State their 1st loss of the season, as Freshman QB Peyton Manning (7-14-79-0) made his 1st career start for the Vols. The Cougars had the better of the 1st half, leading 6-0 at the half. But the Vols re-grouped and used a 62 yard TD run by WR Nilo Silvan to take a 3rd quarter lead. The Cougars re-took the lead at the start of the 4th quarter with another FG but the Vols responded with the game-winning FG 5 minutes later then used great Defense to keep the Cougars from getting in FG range to win the game. 08/10/1994 - Florida State (20) @ (34) Miami - #13 ranked Miami gained revenge for their loss to Florida State in 1993 by upsetting the #3 ranked and unbeaten Noles in Miami. Florida State led 14-7 in the 2nd Quarter before Miami put it all together and out-scored the Noles 27-6 the rest of the way. The Miami Defense, led by DL Warren Sapp (8 tackles, 1.5 sacks) and DB Carlos Jones (1 INT ret for TD) held Florida State to 219 yards of Total Offense. 15/10/94 - Alabama (17) @ (13) Tennessee - #10 ranked Alabama continued their unbeaten streak against the un-ranked Vols with a hard-fought win at Neyland Stadium and moved on to 7-0 for the season. The Tide used a great Defensive game-plan to hold the Vols in check and produced just enough Offense to take the win. Led by QB Jay Barker (10-19-128-1), who was playing with a sore throwing shoulder, the Tide took the lead with just over three minutes left. Tennessee, led by Freshman QB Peyton Manning (10-18-138-0), marched down the field to the Alabama 7 yard line, but the Tide Defense rose up to hold on downs and secure the emotional rivalry victory. Alabama also featured RB Sherman Williams (26-142-1) and DB's Deshea Townsend and Willie Gaston. 15/10/94 - Auburn (36) @ (33) Florida - Auburn defeated #1 Florida with a superb gameplan that forced Florida QB Terry Dean into 5 interceptions. That get the game close enough for the Tigers to win the game on a TD pass with 30 seconds (9, 2 Discs, ABC - Musberger/Vermeil, PAL)

West Virginia (47) @ (41) Pittsburgh
- In a wild game full of big plays, it was the Mountaineers, led by QB Chad Johnston, that won the game. West Virginia scored on a 59 yard blocked FG return, on 40, 47, 60 and 81 yard TD passes and on 50 and 100 yard interception returns. BYU (21) @ (14) Notre Dame
- BYU upset Notre Dame at Notre Dame Stadium, despite being outgained on Offense. The Cougars kept pace with the Irish in a tight first half and only trailed 14-10 at the break. The Cougars then kept the Irish scoreless in the 2nd half and won the game with a Jamal Willis run in the 4th quarter. BYU QB John Walsh (17-30-216-1) and RB Jamal Willis (5-83-1) had good games. 16/10/94 - Texas (17) @ (19) Rice - On a rainy night in Houston, Rice finally ended it's 28 year losing streak to the Longhorns. Led by QB Josh LaRocca (3-7-45-2) + a rushing attack that put up 207 yards and a strong defensive showing, the Owls built on a 12-10 lead at the half to upset the #13 ranked Longhorns. The Owls defense, led by DL Ndukwe Kalu and LB Larry Izzo (2 sacks) held Texas to 179 yards of total offense. Texas was led by QB Shea Morenz, RB Rodrick Walker, DL Tony Brackens, LB Kevin Walter (12 tackles, 1 Forced Fumble) and DB's Bryant Westbrook and Cris Carter. Southern (37) @ (41) Alcorn State
- Heisman hopeful, Alcorn State QB Steve McNair (32-58-587-4, 649 total yards) had a slow start against the top ranked SWAC defense but became unstoppable as the game wore on. All his skills were on show as he ran and scrambled, setting an NCAA record for total offense in the course of the game. He also settled the game with a TD run in the dying seconds (8, 2 Discs, ESPN 2 - Mees/Nelson, PAL)

22/10/94 - Washington (20) @ (31) Oregon - In a game routinely mentioned as the "Game that changed Oregon Football", the Ducks held on against the Huskies in Autzen Stadium. Despite being out-played in the 1st half, the Ducks held a 14-13 lead going in at the half and extended their lead to 24-20 with 2:40 to go in the game. But the Huskies drove to the Ducks 9 yard line and just as they looked like winning the game, Ducks DB Kenny Wheaton intercepted the ball and returned it 97 yards for the game-clinching TD for the Ducks. The interception is known in Oregon lore as "The Pick". Oregon featured QB Danny O'Neil and RB Ricky Whittle (2 TD runs). 29/10/1994 - Colorado (7) ) @ (24) Nebraska - In front of Memorial Stadium's 200th consecutive sellout crowd, Coaches Poll #2 ranked Nebraska ended AP Poll #2 ranked Colorado's unbeaten season. Led by back-up QB Brook Berringer (12-17-142-1), playing in place of an injured Tommie Frazier, Nebraska ran out to a 17-0 lead at the half and never looked back. The Husker "Blackshirts" Defense, led by DL Terry Connealy, LB Ed Stewart and DB Troy Dumas, held the Buffaloes 314 yards of Total Offense (155 rushing and 159 passing), while the Nebraska Offense put up 345 yards of Total Offense. Nebraska also featured RB Lawrence Phillips (24-103-) and TE Eric Alford (5-78-1). Tech started strong, running out to a 21-3 lead at the half and used great Defense to see out the game, recording 6 sacks. 05/11/1994 - Penn State (35) @ (29) Indiana - #2 ranked Penn State stayed unbeaten on the season with a comfortable win in Bloomington. The Nittany Lions controlled the game and led 35-14 in the 4th Quarter before 2 late TD passes from the Hoosiers, the final one coming on the final play, made the score more respectable. Penn State were led by QB Kerry Collins (20-32-213-2) and RB Ki-Jana Carter (20-192-1 inc. 80 yard TD run). 12/11/1994 - Penn State (35) @ (31) Illinois - #2 ranked Penn State clinched their 1st Big Ten Conference championship and a berth in the Rose Bowl with a comeback win in Champaign. In a battle between the #1 Offense in the Big-10 (Penn State) and the #1 Defense in Big-10 (Illinois), it was the Illini that started the better, posting a 21-0 lead at the start of the 2nd Quarter and a 28-14 lead at the half. But the Nittany Lions staged a big comeback in the 2nd half, out-scoring the Illini 21-3 including the game-winning TD with 1 minute left after a 96 yard drive. Penn State were led by QB Kerry Collins (24-38-300-0) and RB Ki-Jana Carter (22-110-1). 12/11/94 - Oregon (55) @ (21) Stanford - #15 ranked Oregon showed their race for the Rose Bowl was a serious one with a big win over the Cardinal. Led by QB Danny O'Neil (21-37-339-6) and WR Cristin McLemore (5-88-3) the Ducks posted a 31-7 lead at the half and cruised home. Stanford was led by QB Scott Frost (18-38-264-1 + 8-56-1), making his 1st career start, and also featured WR's Justin Armour (9-131-0) and David Shaw, who made his 1st career TD catch in the 4th quarter. Air Force (30) @ (42) Notre Dame
- On Senior day in South Bend, Notre Dame cruised to a comfortable win over Air Force. The Irish rode a big game from QB Ron Powlus and WR Derrick Mayes, who set the Notre Dame receiving record and TD record. Air Force made the game interesting with 23 points in the 4th quarter. Air Force were led by QB Beau Morgan and LB Steve Russ (8, Tracking line at the top of the screen, 2 Discs, NBC - Jones/Cross/Dockery, PAL)

North Carolina (41) @ (40) Duke - In the battle for the Liberty Bell, North Carolina managed to topple Duke with a 71 yard TD pass from QB Mike Thomas to WR Octavus Barnes (6-165-1 + 1 TD pass) with 2 minutes remaining and then survived a 60 yard FG attempt on the last play. Duke QB Spence Fischer (33-57-395-4) had a huge game in defeat. North Carolina were coached by Mack Brown (8, 2 Discs, Prime - Goldberg/Lapham, PAL)

19/11/1994 - Auburn (14) @ (21) Alabama - The annual "Iron Bowl" had extra spice as both teams were unbeaten and ranked in the top 6 (#4 Alabama and #6 Auburn). Alabama raced out to a 21-0 lead at the half before Auburn stormed back with 2 TD's to pull within 1 score. But Alabama held on 4th-and-3 at the Alabama 40 with 34 seconds left and took the win, ending Auburn's 21-game unbeaten streak. 19/11/94 - Alcorn State (52) @ (34) Jackson State - In front of a record crowd in Memorial Stadium, Jackson, Mississippi, Alcorn State booked their place in the post-season with a shooutout win against the Tigers. The Braves dominated the 1st half but 4 turnovers kept the Tigers in the game, and the Braves went in at the half with only a 35-28 lead. Alcorn State turned up the heat in the 3rd quarter, keeping the Tigers scoreless while padding their lead to 45-28, and they held on through the 4th quarter for the win. Alcorn State featured Heisman-hopeful QB Steve McNair (29-34-533-5) who had a big game despite pulling a hamstring late in the 1st half. 26/11/94 - Div-1AA Round 1 - Alcorn State (20) @ (63) Youngstown State - Youngstown State ended the college career of Alcorn State QB Steve McNair with a dominating win in front of a record crowd at Stambaugh Stadium, Ohio. McNair (52-82-514-3) had a big game throwing the ball but he also threw 3 interceptions and was hampered by a hamstring injury that limited his scrambling, and the Penguins took advantage with a strong pass rush that registered 6 sacks. Youngstown State dominated the 1st half and posted a 42-14 lead at the half, effectively ending the game as a contest. 10/12/94 - Div-1AA Semi-Final - Marshall (24) @ (28) Boise State - In a big upset, Boise State used a big 2nd half comeback to beat the favoured Thundering Herd on the Blue Turf in Boise. The Broncos trailed 28-14 at the half to the high-powered Marshall Offense, led by QB Todd Donnan and RB Chris Parker, but came- out in the 2nd half inspired. The Offense rallied behind injured QB Tony Hilde to score 2 unanswered TD's while the Defense kept the Herd from scoring, with 2 big Defensive stands in the final 2 minutes to seal a place in the National Championship game. 01/01/95 - Sugar Bowl -
Florida (17) v (23) Florida State
- In a rematch of the 31-31 regular season game, Florida State finished the job with a big game from RB Warrick Dunn (58 yds rushing, 51 yds receiving, 73 yd TD pass). The Noles used a 17 point 2nd quarter to build a lead that even Florida QB Danny Wuerffel (28-39-394-1) couldn't overcome, despite a Sugar Bowl record 82 yard TD pass to Ike Hilliard (8, 2 Discs, ABC - Musberger/Vermeil, PAL)

01/01/95 - Orange Bowl - Miami (17) v (24) Nebraska - Nebraska coach Tom Osborne finally laid to rest the ghost of the 1984 Orange Bowl with a win against his personal Nemesis, the Hurricanes. In the final game at the Orange Bowl Stadium, Nebraska won Tom Osborne his 1st National Championship with an inspired game from QB Tommie Frazier, who's MVP performance led the Huskers to 2 4th quarter TD runs by FB Cory Schlesinger. 02/01/95 - Cotton Bowl - USC (55) v (14) Texas Tech - USC demolished Texas Tech in the Cotton Bowl, scoring 48 unanswered points, including 34 in the 1st half. USC set Cotton Bowl records for points (55), total offense (578), passing yards (435), points in a quarter (28) and points in a half (34). The main USC weapons were QB Rob Johnson (16-21-289-3) and WR Keyshawn Johnson (8-222-3 including an 86 yard TD catch). 02/01/95 - Fiesta Bowl - Colorado (41) v (24) Notre Dame - Colorado raced out to a 31-10 half-time lead and never looked back as the #4 ranked Buffaloes sent retiring head coach Bill McCartney out a winner. 02/01/95 - Rose Bowl - Penn State (38) v (20) Oregon - #2 ranked Penn State used their explosive offense to take control of the game and ended their season 12-0. The Nittany Lions opended the scoring with an 83 yard TD run on their first play from Scrimmage from RB Ki-Jana Carter (21-156-3) and never looked back. The Lions also featured QB Kerry Collins (19-30-200-0) and WR's Bobby Engram (5-52-0) and Joe Jurevicious (2-53-0). 21/01/95 - North Seniors (7) v (14) South Seniors - In an entertaining game in Mobile, the North capitalised on their chances to beat the South in the annual end-of-season Pre-Draft showcase. Even though both teams combined for over 800 yards of total Offense, the first score came on a 47 yard interception return TD by DB Mike Morton (North Carolina). The South then followed up with a 23 yard TD run by RB James Stewart (Tennessee). The North finally scored on the last play of the game, a 23 yard TD run by RB Napoleon Kaufman (Washington). The North also featured QB's Chad May (Kansas State) and Kerry Collins (Penn State), RB Curtis Martin (Pittsburgh) and Defenders DB Craig Newsome (Arizona State) and DB Chris Hudson (Colorado).
