19/09/92 - Texas Tech (13) @ (16) Oregon - Oregon finally ended their 8 game losing streak and won their 1st game of the season with an out-of-conference win against Texas Tech. The Ducks Defense won the day, shutting down the Texas Tech rushing attack. In a game of few chances, both teams were tied 13-13 at the half and the winning FG came early in the 2nd half. Tech had a final chance to win the game in the closing minute but a last-gasp drive ended in an incompletion at the Ducks 5 yard line and Oregon held on for the emotional win. Oregon featured QB Danny O'Neill, RB Sean Burwell and DB Alex Molden (1 Interception). 24/09/92 - California (27) @ (23) Kansas - #24 ranked Kansas hosted California in a night game in Lawrence but the visiting Bears left with the win, inflicting on Kansas their 1st loss of the season. Both teams Defense's were on top in the 1st half and Cal held a slim 13-10 lead at the break. The Jayhawks played catch-up the rest of the way and closed the gap to 27-23 with 8 minutes left, only for the Bears to reel off a 7 minute drive to effectively end the game. A final Kansas "Hail Mary" pass with 5 seconds left was the Jayhawks final hope but the Bears held on for the win. California featured QB Dave Barr, RB Russell White (38-150-1), WR Sean Dawkins, DL Chidi Ahanatou and LB Jerrott Willard. 26/09/92 - Washington State (39) @ (37) Fresno State - In an Offensive showdown between 2 future NFL Quarterbacks, Wazzu QB Drew Bledsoe brought his team back from an early deficit to win the game with 2 TD passes in the final 3:39 of the game. Led by QB Trent Dilfer (15-31-246-1), the Bulldogs ran out to an early 20-7 lead before Bledsoe (21-43-323-2 + 2 TD runs) brought his team back and he finished off the Bulldogs with 2 late TD's, including the game winner with 40 seconds left. The Coogs also featured RB Shaumbe Wright-Fair (25-163-2). Frenso State also featured RB Anthony Daigle (8, 2 Discs, Prime - Nameck/Casper, PAL)

03/10/92 - Florida State (16) @ (19) Miami - #2 ranked Miami extended their 47-game home win streak, but only just as they needed a last-play FG miss by the #3 ranked Seminoles to take the win. Both teams were evenly matched and went in at the break tied 10-10. Florida State took a 16-10 lead early in the 4th quarter, but a TD pass and a Safety by Miami gave them a 3-point lead with time ticking down. The Seminoles went on a final, desperate 42 yard drive to set up a last play 39 yard FG, but Kicker Dan Mowrey missed the game-winner and the 'Canes held on for the win. The game became known as "Wide Right 2". Miami featured QB Gino Torretta (20-48-252-2), RB Stephen McGuire, WR Lamar Thomas (1 TD catch), DL Kevin Patrick (7 tackles, 3 sacks) and LB's Michael Barrow and Jessie Armstead. 03/10/92 - Stanford (33) @ (16) Notre Dame - In a big upset, #19 Stanford beat #7 Notre Dame in a dominating performance. Notre Dame started brightly and were up 16-0 in 2nd quarter. But then the Cardinal got their act together and scored 33 unanswered points, with 19 of the points coming after Irish turnovers (2 fumbles, 2 interceptions) forced by the defense, led by DB John Lynch (9 tackles, 1 forced fumble, 1 interception), who had a huge game. The Offense was led by QB Steve Stenstrom (2 TD passes) and RB Glyn Milburn (119 yards + 2 TD's) and were coached by Bill Walsh. Notre Dame were led by QB Rick Mirer, who had a bad game, RB's Jerome Bettis & Reggie Brooks and LB Demetrius DuBose. The Stanford loss was Notre Dame's only defeat of the season (9, 2 Discs, NBC - Hammond/Collinsworth/Dockery, NTSC)

10/10/92- Arkansas (25) @ (24) Tennessee - In their 1st season in the SEC, the Hogs stunned the fancied Vols with a 4th quarter comeback triggered by a 71 yard punt return, an on-side kick and a last play 41 yard FG for the win. Tennessee were led by QB Heath Shuler and RB's James Stewart and Charlie Garner (9, 2 Discs, JP Sports - Carpenter/Foley/Kesling, PAL)

10/10/92 -
Texas (34) v (24) Oklahoma
- Texas upset #16 ranked Oklahoma with a big win in the 1st rivalry game for new coach John Mackovic and the final rivalry game for QB Peter Gardere. Texas put up 450 yards of total offense on the Sooners and held them to 96 yards rushing en-route to a 34-10 lead in the 4th quarter before allowing 2 late TD passes. QB Gardere (18-32-274-2) finished the game as the only starting QB in the rivalry to win all 4 of his games against the other team

10/10/92 - Stanford (19) @ (7) UCLA - #11 ranked Stanford continued their hot streak with a big win over #19 ranked UCLA at the Rose Bowl. The Cardinal Defense led the way, forcing 6 sacks, 4 turnovers and scored a safety, while holding the Bruins to -4 yards rushing. The Stanford Offense was led by QB Steve Stenstrom (14-26-125-1) and WR/RB Glyn Milburn (249 all-purpose yards including a 75 yard punt return TD) who had a huge game. The Stanford Defense was led by LB's Ron George (2 sacks, 1 forced fumble) and Coy Gibbs (1 interception) + DB's John Lynch and Darrien Gordon. UCLA were led by QB Rob Walker (23-46-242-1), WR JJ Stokes (8-97-1) and LB Jamir Miller (9, 2 Discs, ESPN - Harlan/Jiggets/Debenham, NTSC)

31/10/92 - Penn State (17) @ (30) BYU - BYU finally beat Penn State after 3 attempts, knocking off the #14 ranked Nittany Lions in Provo. BYU jumped on Penn State early, opening up a 27-3 lead at the half, and still held a 30-6 lead after 3 quarters before Penn State tacked on 2 late scores to make the score more respectable. BYU out-rushed Penn State by 241 yards to 101 although the Nittany Lions out-passed the Cougars 317 yards to 220. BYU featured QB Ryan Hancock (13-19-220-3), RB's Kalin Hall (22-141-1) and Jamal Willis (13-77-0) and WR Eric Drage (3-55-0). Virginia Tech (49) @ (50) Rutgers - In a shootout with many big plays, Rutgers completed their comeback from a 42-23 deficit in the 3rd quarter with the winning 15 yard TD pass on the final play of the game. The heroes were QB Brian Fortay (338 yds + 4 TD's) and WR Chris Brantley (4 TD catches). Brantley's 4 TD catches set a team record. Fortay survived 5 interceptions, including 1 returned for a TD, and being benched during the game for backup QB Ray Lucas. Virginia Tech were led by QB Maurice DeSahzo (15-27-302-2), RB Vaughn Hebron (1 TD rub) and WR Antonio Freeman. Rutgers also featured TE Marco Battaglia (7, Pixellation, 1 Disc, NJN - Scanlon/Casiola/Mayock, NTSC)

31/10/92 - Texas (44) @ (33) Texas Tech - In a shootout at Jones stadium, the #25 ranked Longhorns used a strong running game to beat the Red Raiders. Texas led 22-10 at the half with QB Peter Gardere (17-35-212-0) and RB Adrian Walker (16-159-0) leading the way but Texas Tech fought back in the 2nd half as 2nd string QB Jason Clemmons (26-51-329-3), starting in place of injured starter Robert Hall, stepped up. He had help from WR Lloyd Hill (10-151-3), who set the Texas Tech career catches record during the game (113), but ultimately the Longhorns had too much for the Red Raiders and held on for the win. Texas also featured RB Phil Brown (14-73-2 + 7-95-0), LB's Winfred Tubbs and Anthony Curl and DB Lance Gunn. 31/10/92 - Georgia (24) v (26) Florida - #20 ranked Florida ended #7 ranked Georgia's 6 game win streak with a tough win in Jacksonville. Florida jumped on Georgia early and ran out to a 24-3 lead in the 2nd quarter before the Bulldogs fought back to 26-24 with 4:05 left to play. But the Gators ran out the clock on the Bulldogs and took the win. Florida featured QB Shane Matthews (28-45-301-2), RB Errict Rhett (1 TD run), WR's Willie Jackson and Harrison Houston and DL's Kevin Carter and Ellis Johnson. Georgia featured QB Eric Zeier (15-28-235-2), RB Garrison Hearst (14-40-0), WR Andre Hastings, LB Randall Godfrey and DB Greg Tremble (8, Downloaded from the internet, 1 Disc, Sportschannel - Vettel/Yarbrough/Babik, NTSC)

14/11/92 - Washington State (3) @ (40) Stanford - Stanford finally put it all together to beat the Cougars, with Cardinal RB Glyn Milburn (152 all-purpose yards + 3 TD's) having a big game. Stanford only led 10-3 at the half, with the Washington State defense sacking Cardinal QB Steve Stenstrom (14-21-198-2) 5 times. But in the 2nd half, Stanford scored 33 unanswered points and the Defense, led by DB John Lynch, shut-down Cougars QB Drew Bledsoe (16-26-145-0) to take the win and knock the Cougars out of the Rose Bowl race (8, Slight audio problem during pre-game, 2 Discs, Prime - Stone/Francis/Haynes, NTSC)

14/11/92 -
Penn State (16) @ (17) Notre Dame - On a snowy day in South Bend, the 2 heavyweights of college football battled to a stirring finish as the Irish converted a 2 point play with 20 seconds remaining to win the game. The Irish drove 84 yards in the final minute to score on a 4 yard TD pass from QB Rick Mirer (12-23-164-1), in his final home game, to RB Jerome Bettis. Notre Dame coach Lou Holtz decided to go for 2 points and the win and Mirer repsonded with a clutch throw to RB Reggie Brooks. The Irish were held to 344 total offensive yards. The Nittany Lions, led by QB Kerry Collins, RB Richie Anderson and WR OJ McDuffie were held to 238 total offensive yards (10, Official DVD, 2 Discs, NBC - Hammond/Collinsworth/Dockery, PAL)

21/11/92 - Washington (23) @ (42) Washington State - In the snow at Martin Stadium, the Cougars claimed state bragging rights with a big upset win over the Rose Bowl-bound and #5 ranked Huskies. The win was the Cougars 1st against the Huskies since 1988. Led by QB Drew Bledsoe (18-30-259-2), the Coogs overturned a 7-6 half-time deficit with a 29 point 3rd quarter that ended the game as a contest. Bledsoe was supported by a huge game from RB Shaumbe Wright-Fair (22-194-3), in his last home game, WR Phillip Bobo (4-74-1) and a Defense that held the Huskies to 267 total yards. The Defense was led by LB's Ron Childs (9 tackles) and Anthony McClanahan (8 tackles). The Huskies were led by QB Mark Brunell (2 TD runs), RB Napoleon Kaufman (15-51-1), DL D'Marco Farr and LB Dave Hoffman. The game proved to be the last home game for Wazzu QB Drew Bledsoe as after the season he left for the NFL (9, 2 Discs, Prime - Nameck/Casper/Nelson/Waltz, NTSC)

USC (37) @ (38) UCLA
- In a shootout in the Rose Bowl, the underdog Bruins upset the Trojans with a sensational display from their 4th-string QB. UCLA QB John Barnes (16-28-385-3) played as a result of injuries to the players above him on the depth chart and he responded with a game for the ages. Both teams were dead-locked at 17-17 at the half but USC took control in the 2nd half, led by QB Rob Johnson, and were in front 31-17 in the 4th quarter. Barnes then took control and led the Bruins on 3 TD drives including the go-ahead score on a 90 yard TD pass to WR JJ Stokes (6-263-2) that put the Bruins up 38-31. USC responded with a last minute drive of their own and pulled within 1 point on a 1 yard TD run by Johnson. USC coach Larry Smith decided to go for the win on a 2 point play but the pass was knocked down and UCLA held on to win. UCLA also featured WR Sean LaChapelle, RB Kevin Williams, OL Jonathan Ogden, LB's Jamir Miller and Donnie Edwards + DB's Carlton Gray and Othello Henderson. USC also featured WR's Johhnie Morton and Curtis Conway, LB's Willie McGinest and Brian Williams and DB Jason Sehorn (10, 1 Disc, ESPN - Franklin/Gottfried/Karsten, PAL)

Rice (34) @ (61) Houston
- Houston QB Jimmy Klingler ended a disasterous season with a spectacular offensive show (46-71-613-7) as he threw for the 2nd most yards in NCAA history while knocking their big rivals out of a bowl game. Rice were led by QB Bert Emmanuel (3 TD passes) and RB Trevor Cobb (23-121-1), in his final game for the Owls (9, 2 Discs, Raycom - Barnett/Rowe, PAL)

05/12/92 - SEC Championship -
Alabama (28) v (21) Florida
- In the first ever SEC Championship, unbeaten and #2 ranked Alabama secured a place in the Sugar Bowl with a big win over Florida. Both teams traded scores throughout the game with Florida QB Shane Matthews (30-49-287-2) and Alabama QB Jay Barker (19-18-154-1) pulling the trigger. The game was settled when, With only 3 minutes left, Tide DB Antonio Langham returned an interception 27 yards for the winning score, Florida also featured RB Errict Rhett (22-59-1). Alabama also featured RB Derrick Lassic (21-117-2) and WR David Palmer (5-101-0) (9, 1 Disc, ABC - Jackson/Griese/Arute, NTSC)

Youngstown State (28) v (31) Marshall
- Marshall atoned for their loss in the final the previous season as they won the game on a FG inside the final 10 seconds from the back-up kicker. Youngstown State were led by Head Coach Jim Tressel (8, 2 Discs, CBS - Nantz/Robinson/Gray, PAL)

01/01/93 - Blockbuster Bowl - Stanford (24) v (3) Penn State - In a much-hyped game at Joe Robbie Stadium, #13 ranked Stanford beat #21 ranked Penn State to end the season with 10 wins, their first since 1940. The game pitted Stanford coach Bill Walsh, winner of 3 Superbowls, against Penn State coach Joe Paterno, winner of 2 National Championships. After a tight 1st quarter where Stanford held a 7-3 lead, the Cardinal scored 17 unanswered points to pull away and the Defense played lights-out to seal the win. The game MVP went to Stanford DB Darrien Gordon. Stanford also featured QB Steve Stenstrom (17-28-210-2), RB's Ellery Roberts (17-98-0) and Glyn Milburn (9-19-0 + 40 yard TD pass), TE Ryan Wetnight (5-71-1) and DB John Lynch (7 tackles). 01/01/93- Orange Bowl - Florida State (27) v (14) Nebraska - Florida State scored the 1st 20 points of the game to give Nebraska a huge hole to dig themselves out of. Cornhusker QB Tommie Frazier, in his 1st bowl game, did his best but 2 late interceptions sealed the win for Seminole QB Charlie Ward and the 'Noles. Nebraska were led on defense by LB Trev Alberts and he racked up a career high 14 tackles (8, 2 Discs, NBC - Criqui/Trumpy, PAL)
