Regular Season - UCLA Bruins (69) @ (71) Houston Cougars - #1 UCLA, led by Lew Alcindor, travelled to #2 Houston, led by Elvin Hayes. The game was played in the Houston Astrodome in front of the biggest crowd ever to see a Basketball game (6, Transfer from 2nd generation VHS, 2nd half only, 2 Discs, TVS - Enberg/Petit, PAL)
1973/74
ACC Championship - Maryland Terrapins (100) v (103) North Carolina State Wolfpack - In arguably the greatest college basketball game ever, #1 ranked NC State beat #5 ranked Maryland in overtime. The Wolfpack were led by David Thompson (29 points), 3 time ACC player of the year, and Tom Burleson (38 points, 13 rebounds). Maryland featured Tom McMillen (22 points), Len Elmore (18 points) and John Lucas (18 points). A game of momentum swings saw Maryland open up a quick 13 point lead, only for State to comeback and lead by 5 at the half. The game stayed close until the end, with Maryland tieing the score with 1 minute remaining and forcing overtime. State's Monte Towe gave State a 3 point lead with 6 seconds left to take the title. The Loss knocked Maryland out of the NCAA Tournament with a 23-5 record as only the conference champions could go to the "Big Dance". Regular Season - Wichita State Shockers (84) @ (109) Indiana State Sycamores - #1 ranked Indiana State put on a show for the national TV audience with star player Larry Bird (49 points, 18 rebounds) leading the way (8, 1 Disc, NBC - Simpson/McGuire, NTSC)

Regular Season - Houston Cougars (84) @ (75) Texas Tech - At the Lubbock Municipal Coliseum, #4 ranked Houston overcame a tough Texas Tech team to stay undefeated in SWC play with a 13-0 record. Texas Tech only had 8 players on their roster due to injury and suspensions but hustled and harried the Cougars and held them to only a 38-32 lead at the half. In the 2nd half, Houston's Michael Young (26 points) stepped up and the Cougars pulled away for the win. Houston also featured Akeem Olajuwon (17 points) and Clyde Drexler. Regular Season - North Carolina Tarheels (80) @ (78) Wake Forest Demon Deacons - At the Greensboro Coliseum, #3 ranked North Carolina kept their unbeaten ACC record with a late win against #19 ranked Wake Forest. Both teams had runs in the game, but each time the other would counter. The Tarheels led 45-41 at the break, and extended their lead to 65-57 in the 2nd half before the Demon Deacons mounted a comeback, easing out to a 78-75 lead with 1:40 left. The Tarheels tied the game with a 3-pointer and, with the shot clock turned off, Wake Forest held the ball for a last play shot. Unfortunately, the shot missed and was re-bounded by the Tarheels. Matt Doherty (6 points) quickly pushed up-court where he was fouled with 3 seconds left, and he sank both shots to win the game for the Tarheels. North Carolina also featured Sam Perkins (24 points), Michael Jordan (17 points), Brad Daugherty (14 points) and Jimmy Braddock (5 points). Regular Season - Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets (65) @ (72) North Carolina Tarheels - In a tight game, the Tarheels found just enough defense in the 2nd half to hold off the Yellow Jackets. Georgia Tech out-played North Carolina in the 1st half, shooting 50% from the field, but went in at the break 35-32 down. In the 2nd half, North Carolina's Michael Jordan, Brad Daugherty and Matt Doherty took control and edged far enough in front to see out the game. Jordan top-scored with 39 points while Mark Price led Georgia Tech with 26 points, including 8 of 9 on 3 pointers. Regular Season - North Carolina Tarheels (84) @ (81) Clemson Tigers - A battle between the top and the bottom teams in the ACC went all the way to the wire as #1 ranked North Carolina held on at the Littlejohn Coliseum against the upset-minded Tigers and extended their win streak to 15 games. Things went the Tarheels way early on and they opened up a 41-28 lead, but the Tigers fought back to only trail 49-41 at the half. The 2nd half started with the Tigers on fire and they ran out to a 69-64 lead with 7 minutes to play, but North Carolina again re-took the lead 77-75 with 3:38 left. With the shot clock off, the Tigers worked the ball around for 2 minutes looking for the game-tieing shot but when it did come, they missed and North Carolina held on with late free-throws to take the win. North Carolina featured Sam Perkins (30 points), Michael Jordan (24 points), Jimmy Braddock (13 points) and Matt Doherty (6 points). Regular Season - Virginia Cavaliers (63) @ (64) North Carolina Tarheels - In a huge match-up in Chapel Hill, #1 ranked North Carolina stunned #3 ranked Virginia with a frantic final minute to win the game. An intense back-and-forth 1st half ended with the Cavaliers holding a 31-28 lead. Virginia started the 2nd half on fire, and ran out to a 58-44 lead, but the Tarheels responded with a monumental come-back that saw them reduce the Cavaliers lead to 63-60 with 2:41 left. Then Michael Jordan (16 points) took over. He scored on a tip-in, forced a steal that he slammed home for the 64-63 lead and sealed the win with a rebound off of a last-play Cavalier 2-pointer. North Carolina also featured Jimmy Braddock (14 points), Matt Doherty (11 points) and Sam Perkins (10 points). Regular Season - Boston College Golden Eagles (73) @ (75) Syracuse Orangemen - In a sensational finish, Syracuse Freshman Dwayne "Pearl" Washington hit a half-court shot on the last play to win the game. Syracuse led 43-36 at the half before BC mounted a comeback and had a chance to take the win with 4 seconds left on a free-throw but the shot missed, Washington rebounded and won the game. Regular Season - Houston Cougars (64) v (76) North Carolina State Wolfpack - The opening game of season for each team offered a re-match of the previous seasons National Championship game and, unfortunately for Houston, there was a similar outcome. A tight 1st half ended in a 33-33 tie but in the 2nd half the Wolfpack upped the tempo on Defense and, coupled with poor Free-Throw completion percentage from the Cougars, built a winning lead. NC State were led by Anthony "Spud" Webb (18 points) who put in an MVP performance in his 1st career game at NC State. Regular Season - Texas Lutheran Bulldogs (65) @ (129) Houston Cougars - The Cougars warmed up for their Christmas Day match against Louisville with a comfortable win over the Bulldogs. Led by Akeem Olajuwon (17 points, 11 rebounds, 8 blocks) and Michael Young (22 points) the Cougars built a 66-32 lead at the half and coasted home. Regular Season - North Carolina Tarheels (74) @ (62) Maryland Terrapins - A young Michael Jordan (21 points) takes on the great Len Bias (24 points) and brings home the win. The game is memorable for the last play breakaway dunk by Jordan (8, 2 Discs, ESPN Classic - Ptrick/Mullins, PAL)
Regular Season - Virginia Cavaliers (66) @ (69) North Carolina Tarheels - North Carolina hung on to win their 13th straight game, surviving a furious 2nd half comeback by the Cavaliers. Virginia trailed 58-37 with 10:44 left to play, but Othell Wilson and the Cavaliers out-scored the Tarheels 21-1 to get back in the game. North Carolina halted the surge with decisive 7-1 run of their own in and the gap proved too big for Virginia and they ran out of time to complete the comeback and steal the win. North Carolina featured Sam Perkins and Michael Jordan (23 points). Regular Season - Duke Blue Devils (83) @ (96) North Carolina Tarheels - In the final home game for Tarheels Matt Doherty, Michael Jordan, and Sam Perkins, they finished off the resurgent Blue Devils in Double overtime to finish the regular season unbeaten at 14-0. Duke almost upset the party, taking a 2 point lead with 20 seconds remaining but, after Duke had missed a free-throw, Matt Doherty raced up-court and drained a tieing 2 point shot with 1 second left to force overtime. The teams were still tied going into the 2nd overtime where Michael Jordan and Sam Perkins finally wore down Duke and settled the game. North Carolina's Michael Jordan finished with 25 points. Big East Tournament Final - Syracuse Orangemen (71) v (82) Georgetown Hoyas - The 2 old adversaries met to decide the Big East Champion and, in controversial fashion, the Hoyas edged the Orange in Overtime. Both teams stars shone, with Syracuse's Dwayne "Pearl" Washington (27 points) and Georgetowns' Patrick Ewing having big games but the game was decided in the final minutes as Syracuse lost 2 key players to foul trouble and had a technical foul against Georgetown for a thrown punch reversed, allowing Georgetown to keep possession and avoid Syracuse taking an unsurmountable lead late in the game. Regular Season - Navy Midshipmen (69) @ (80) Kentucky Wildcats - Navy Senior David Robinson scored a record 45 points against the Wildcats but it wasn't enough to get the win. Kentucky led 40-31 at the half and withstood a mini-comeback by the midshipmen to improve to 11-5. The star for Kentucky was Rex Chapman (22 points). Regular Season - Loyola Marymount Lions (141) @ (148) LSU Tigers - In a shootout in Baton Rouge, the Lions fought back from a 72-58 deficit at the half to force Overtime but the Tigers held firm to take the win. LSU featured freshman Center Shaquille O'Neal (20 points, 24 rebounds and 12 blocks) and Chris Jackson (34 points). Regular Season - UNLV Rebels (105) @ (107) LSU Tigers - A shootout in Baton Rouge went the way of the home team as LSU upset #5 UNLV. A game of momentum swings saw UNLV lead 27-13 early but then trail 58-49 at the half. Both teams traded scores right until the end before LSU saw out the win with clutch free-throw shooting. The stars for LSU were Chris Jackson (35 points) and Shaquille O'Neal (17 points, 14 rebounds) while UNLV were led by Larry Johnson (27 points) and Anderson Hunt (31 points). Regular Season - Loyola Marymount Lions (117) @ (113) Oregon State Beavers - In a high-scoring shoot-out, Loyola Marymount upset #21 Oregon State in Corvallis, overturning a 66-58 deficit at the half. The hero for LMU was Bo Kimble (53 points) who was missing his sidekick Hank Gathers who was left out after collapsing at the previous game. Regular Season - Troy State Trojans (258) @ (141) DeVry Institute - In an offensive shootout, both teams combined for the highest scoring game ever. Troy State overwhelmed a 7 man DeVry team, posting a 123-53 lead at the half and continued the same pace in the 2nd half to shatter the old record for most points scored in game, which they also held. The #6 ranked and defending National Champions featured Bobby Hurley (22 pts, 5 ass.), Grant Hill (25 pts) and Cherokee Parks (14 pts, 12 rebs, 5 Blks). Florida State featured Bob Sura (16 pts), Sam Cassell (15 pts, 6 ass.) and Charlie Ward (11 pts, 5 steals), fresh from Quarterbacking the Seminoles football team. 23/02/95 - Texas Longhorns (87) @ (96) Texas Tech Red Raiders - In a battle for top spot in the SWC, #1 Texas Tech held off #2 Texas to book a bye-round in the SWC tournament.
